I was born and raised in Ireland, before being uprooted and moved to Orlando, Florida in 1985. Quite quickly he latched onto the sound of early Hip-Hop and Miami Bass which was flooding the airwaves in the south at the time. After years of immersing himself in those and many other styles of music from Acid House to Industrial he happened upon Breakbeat, a sound which at the time was mainly coming out of Florida from artists like Icee and Dynamix II.In 1995 I returned to Ireland to find a distintive lack of Breaks, infact a lack of anything other than Hardhouse and Techno. I quickly decieded that this situation had to be altered and set about getting myself some gigs in and around Dublin. After numerous guest slots in clubs around the city he happened upon ZaZu, a subterainian sweatbox that was far from "Underground". Many meetings later with the owners, and with the help of some of Dublins biggest promotors Switch was born, and so was "Octane" my first weekly breaks night. "Octane" ran for only one year, but more importantly it set the ball rolling for breaks in the capitol.After a short hiatus from promoting, due to concentrating on my sound engineering career, I returned to the dance scene with Dublins finest breaks club to date, FOOD (F*ck Off Or Dance). FOOD ran for two years on Friday nights in Switch, and is still regarded as one of the most infamous Friday the capital had seen in a long time. Since its inception in 2001 FOOD has been responsible for bringing over some of the worlds biggest breaks players from, BLIM to Si Begg to Krafty Kuts, and have also showcased some of Irelands finest breaks DJ's and acts.My new night that im starting with some mates, Jamie Skills, Nic James and Chris Counterpoint, is called GhettoJacking, it will be every Friday night in Rogue in Dublin, and will focus more on the fidget house and detroit electro side of things. Between that and producing and getting married in September i hopfully wont have a minute to spare! Happy days!
