the Weird Scientist was initially created as a platform for a few sessioners in Dublin to see their favourite acts. Sick of the corporate feel and vibe in many of the bigger clubs in Dublins City Centre, McGRUDERS was picked for its outright unlikelyhood as a dance venue. Raw and loud and fresh, its one of Dublins best underground venues and was PERFECT for what the Scientists needed.
Only supposed to be a once off event, all that changed after the first night when Simon F, Mark Alton, the DRTBOX Dj's and Rob Murphy took to the stage and filled the void that was so obviously missing in the Dublin scene.
Since then the Weird Scientist has had and will host such Dj's and acts as SOURCECODE, ADAM FREELAND, ELITE FORCE, PHIL KIERAN, CJ BOLLAND, ROGUE ELEMENT, SUNIL SHARPE, HYSTEREO, AL KEEGAN, ARVEENE, THE DEADBOTS, ROBBIE RYAN, DRTBOX(JAY NYQUIST & TONY LAWLESS), PRODUSE, MARK ALTON, JOHNNY MOY and many more.
Also with our residents being local legend MILLER(Nice N NASTY/DXR Records) and stars of Hospital and Automated music(and the future for that matter) ROB MURPHY, DAN MAC & JAY D, you never have to worry about musical tastes when you take a trip to the most unique venue in Ireland.Its unique atmosphere, choice of acts, venue and visuals has seen the Weird Scientist take over every Friday in McGRUDERS and its made such an impression that SLICK DJ MAGAZINE has nominated it for BEST SMALL CLUB in the Dance Music Ireland Awards.
Exciting times are ahead with the line-ups getting bigger and better while still staying true to its source.
