SKRYPTRS--STILL RISING W/ CUT MASTER C OUT NOW!!--

JUST SHUT UP AND GET IT DONE........

About Me

I was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on Valentines Day in the 80's baby. I was born into the same lifestyle as most in my town (poverty). I spent the most part of my life on a little street in a little ghetto known as Wright Place. There I lived with my mother, grandmother, sister, 2 uncles, 1 aunt, three cousins, and a dog. Our living quarters was an extremely little 2 bedroom apartment. My father was dead before my 9th birthday and I had very few role models. By the time I was 10 I was already showing signs of rebellion, doing poorly in school, and convincing myself that I didn’t need anyone. Time went on my aunt and 3 cousins moved out along with my terminally ill uncle. Life continued at the same pace and eventually my mother found another man. Some time around early 1996 my mother told us that we would be moving out into an apartment in North Brunswick with her boyfriend.
We eventually moved and for the first few years my mother and I had spent countless times fighting. I would run away for days and go back to my grandmother’s apartment and linger around the hood all weekend (keep in mind I was no older than 12 years old). I hated going home and I hated going to school. All the kids had more money than us and they always made us use computers. I hadn’t the slightest idea how to turn one on let alone use the damn thing. I would spend my days in class fighting and stealing and had many suspensions and meetings with school officials. Everyone knew I hated living in North Brunswick, but no one knew why. My family was very poor and we would spend days without electricity and hot water during the winters. My mother was in an abusive relationship and I couldn’t’ take the environment anymore. My sister and I endured countless beatings and witnessed things that no child should. After years of packing and unpacking, domestic disputes, and broken plates life changed. Unfortunately, it was too late for me.
*Side Note: As traumatic as my child hood was it gave me an understanding of what life and love is really about. I watched my beautiful mother struggle and try to give us the best from these circumstances. All she wanted to do was provide her children with a better life. It may not have worked out the way she envisioned it, but without my mother I would not be who I am. That is why I am forver in her debt and if she's reading this. I love you mom.
By the time I was a senior I had been in multiple high schools, lived off fast money, I was failing all my classes (except gym). I remember feeling like I was wasting money on mix tapes, because they all sounded ass. It seemed everyone was talking about the same thing and the only albums to look forward to was “The Dynasty” and “The Reunion”. I found myself writing verses here and there to kill the boredom that came with high school. After a while I started cutting class and hiding in the lunch room and became obsessed with writing. After a few months I had a notebook full of rhymes and had not recorded one. Expressing my frustrations to an associate he told me he could give me a program to make beats. Being the kind of guy I was I stole it from him, never gave it back, and began making my own beats.
Over the next year I continued to write, make beats, and to everyone’s shock I graduated from high school. Eventually, I decided to go to community college in an effort to get my mother off my back. There I did the same as I did in high school. I chased girls, got fast money, and failed almost every class. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t take it seriously knowing that I could get money now. The future was something I never thought about, because it was no telling what could happen. I lived life for the moment and damaging as it was it became my most important failure. After 2 years and 6 credits I said “Fuck it”. I dropped out, hit the streets harder, and kept working on my music. Sometime in 2001 my life began to change for the better and the worse. After years of getting fast money I began to witness the aftermath that comes with it. In a span of four months I watched my brother and my four of my closest friends go to jail. I remember sitting in the hood like “Damn…Where the fuck is everybody”. The answer was obvious at that point. Jail.
I decided to get a part time job and slowed down my other means of income. Three days into my job I sustained a leg injury that would leave unable to walk for 6 months. Over those 6 months I did a lot of thinking and decided to change my current state of living. I decided at that point that I was going to make music and I wasn’t going to stop. It was the only thing I was good at and on October 1, 2002 I made a promise to myself.
Time went on and I honored my promise by writing songs and making beats on a daily basis. I eventually learned how to use the equipment that I had previously purchased and by the time my leg got better the streets didn’t matter. I spent the next few years writing, making beats, and learning how to work Pro-Tools. I eventually was ready to start recording, but I didn’t have any spare room in my bedroom. (Here’s where life begins for me) In 2004 I threw my bed out and replaced it with a mic booth. Over the next year I slept on the floor and recorded almost 100 tracks over original beats with full production.
By the time 2005 rolled around my brother and my friends were out of jail and I was working the streets with my first album “top of da game”. I sold 700 copies in a four week span and grossed enough to buy more equipment. As time went on I started my own independent record label “Sik Cat Entertainment” and created my own studio in New Brunswick. Along the way I partnered with local DJ Pipe and the two of us began to work together. Over the next year we would spend weeks in the studio and worked to the point of exhaustion daily. We knew we needed a visual product and at that point we decided that I should release a mix tape.
In 2006 we released “On da Rise” (a 25 track mix tape in which I produced 12) and within 2 weeks we were on a mainstream mix tape, on the radio, and doing shows. After years of sacrifices, ups, and downs my dreams were visual and vowed never to turn back.
Pipe and I kept consistent and as time went on we recruited B-Hopp. The three of us spent the next year promoting and working the mix tape circuit together. Since then we have worked with everyone from DJ Green Lantern (Jay Z’s DJ), Black Wall Street (team to former G-Unit member The Game), DJ Lazy K, down to DJ Cut Master C (Legendary NY mix tape DJ). Along the way we added new members (Body & D-Money) and have accomplished more than most. Now after years of pain, frustration, and aggravation I am where I want to be. Welcome to Sik Cat Entertainment. Welcome to Skryptrs.

Releases, Features, & Interviews Still Rising
Pioneer. Trend setter. Legend in the making. Each one can pick one. After spending a year and half on the mix tape scene, networking, and establishing Sik Cat Entertainment Skryptrs returns. Backed by legendary tri-state mix tape DJ Cut Master C "Still Rising" is set to cause a frenzy in the underground world. After suffering financial losses due to an ongoing tax issue with Sik Cat Entertainment Skrpytrs went “out of pocket” to ensure that “Still Rising” would see its release before the summer of “08”. Banding together the original three member of Sik Cat Entertainment put out over $XXXXX into budget and paid for over 3 months of commercial television advertisement upfront. Truly the most diverse release from Skryptrs to date. “Still Rising” is jam packed with sounds from the street, up tempo records, and truly mind blowing honesty. The record begins with the titled track “Taking My Position” where Skryptrs explains in detail the beginning of Sik Cat Entertainment and their rise in popularity. The record then moves on to the up-tempo southern style “We in the Projects” where Skryptrs debuts a much more powerful and poignant delivery. Variety continues through out the record and ends with the titled track “Price of Fame” where Skryptrs openly discusses the changes in his personal life since developing a presence in the world of hip-hop. ”Still Rising” is set to release May 13th, 2008 on Sik Cat Entertainment followed by a summer long tri-state tour.
Side Note: While instrumental tracks were sent in to Sik Cat Entertainment from all over the world all production was seen in house with "Still Rising" . DJ Pipe executive produced “Still Rising” as well as the titled track “Still Rising”. Street team leader B-Hopp also appears on wax on the melodic down tempo track “Take Me to Hollywood”. Skryptrs also appears in the production field by means of producing “Another Rap Moment”, Metal Remix, and several other tracks. D-Money of Sik Cat Entertainment appears on several tracks as well as 2 solos.

“Top of da Game” is without a doubt the most important release from Skryptrs to date. Recorded over the course of 6 months “Top of da Game” was produced, recorded, and mixed by Skryptrs entirely. It was during the writing process for this cd where Skryptrs threw out his bed and replaced it with a microphone booth. Charged with dark loops and gritty drum samples “Top of da Game” is a traditional east coat album layered with bassy calm vocals. “Top of da Game” is a must for any Hip-Hop enthusiast. On da Rise

“On da Rise” is a collection of unreleased songs and freestyle by Skryptrs. Armed with a variety of textures and sounds “On da Rise” secured Skryptrs name in the Hip-Hop world. Within two weeks of its release Skryptrs was placed on DJ Lazy K of the Murda Mami’s “Your Hood to my Hood” mix tape, the “Ultimate Exposure” DVD, and asked to appear on WHRC 90.3 FM Harlem, NY for an interview. Twelve of the 25 tracks were produced by Skryptrs and all 25 tracks were mixed and mastered by him self. From Your Hood to My Hood

“Your Hood to My Hood” was Skryptrs first main stream mix tape. Placed in between Juelz Santana and Fabolous Skryptrs held his own with his self produced track “Staying True”. The track was an opening letter to all those watching him that despite the power stemming from fame Skryptrs would remain him self. DJ Pipe of Sik Cat Entertainment appears on the opening intro and well as the ending. MySpace Invasion

After several attempts and denials to get on a mix tape by *DJ Green Lantern; in the winter of 2006 Skryptrs was finally placed on a compilation mix tape with unsigned artists. Along with the CD release there was a competition in which the artist who received the most votes would appear on the upcoming release by DJ Green Lantern. Along with Sik Cat Entertainment Skryptrs flooded his town of New Brunswick with over 2,000 fliers in attempt to gain votes. Several artists were found cheating and after weeks of voting, poll resets, and site issues Skryptrs came in second place. The 2nd place position was taken in good spirits as Skryptrs not only began to develop a following, but made everyone in his town aware of his presence.
*DJ Green Lantern is one of the most successful DJ’s of all time. Having sold millions of CD’s world wide Green Lantern was the official DJ of Shady Records and G-Unit. Currently hosting his own radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio Green Lantern continues to dominate the scene and shocked the world when it was announced that he would be Jay Z’s official DJ. After the release of DJ Green Lantern’s “MySpace Invasion” and taking second place in the votes Skryptrs was given a second opportunity. Skryptrs was paired up with an upcoming producer from Georgia named Reggie Rock of Rock Star Beats LLC. Skryptrs locked himself in the studio for almost a week ignoring all and received countless threats of termination from his employer after several call outs. Painstakingly working on a limited time schedule Skryptrs was pushed to a point that he had not been. The final product was a track called “The Hustle” where Skryptrs showcased a powerful tone and new delivery over Reggie Rock’s cleverly crafted bass heavy beat. Having developed a friendship through their business venture Skryptrs and Reggie Rock continue to work together to this very day. Recently Reggie Rock was credited as an engineer on Sik Cat Entertainment’s all Jersey mix tape “We Want In”. Farewell to the Summer

Having proved himself on several unsigned mix tapes Skryptrs received the ok for an appearance from legendary mix tape DJ Cut Master C. Skryptrs selection was a newly recorded and unreleased track called “Metal”. “Metal” is armed with heavy kicks and snappy snares over a simple 4-bar melody. Simple in its production it was Skryptrs overly catchy chorus and bridge which made “Metal” an instant underground hit.
Side Note: Metal was produced and engineered by Skryptrs was originally meant for DJ Green Lantern’s “Monster Mash”. We Want In

Inspired by the Atlanta rap movement Skryptrs and Sik Cat Entertainment wrestled with the thought of an all New Jersey mix tape for several months. In the early summer of 2007 the original three members began scouting talent for their mix tape. Taking matters into their own hands Skryptrs and DJ Pipe of Sik Cat Entertainment produced several tracks for the artists on the mix tape. One of the artists appearing on the mix tape was a local rapper by the name of D-Money. Impressed by his talent and overall passion for success the enter Sik Cat team agreed to place the 16 year old artist on their roster.
After a grueling several months of pre-production and design revisions the final product was completed in early fall of 2007. Soon after its release Skrpytrs was given the opportunity to speak on behalf of the mix tape in an interview granted by thatshiphop.com. The sole purpose of the “We Want In” mix tape was to show other New Jersey artists the endless possibilities in unity. With that same thought etched in everyone’s mind it was agreed that the mix tape would be distributed freely through New Jersey and electronically via Sikcat.com, datpiff.com, and MySpace.
