1 Chronicles 15:19

About Me

1 Chronicles 15:19 - The musicians Heman, Asaph and Ethan were to sound the bronze cymbals;
I've been drumming for over 20 years and recently moved to Nashville from the San Francisco Bay Area.
I've had the opportunity to study with some great teachers along the way like Bruce Langford, Rob Hart and John Xepoleas to name a few. If you were to ask anyone I've played with, they would tell you that I'm a very well-rounded player. I've developed this mainly by playing in numerous worship bands and churches throughout my career. I excel in ALL styles of music, from CC Worship to funk/R&B to country to hard rock. I pride myself in being able to adapt to any style and I think this is what makes me a great worship drummer. I've studied music my entire life and also pride myself on being able to play to the song. I'm not out to make a name for myself by throwing in a huge drum fill in the middle of a ballad! Its all about the song in my opinion.
I have been involved in music my entire life, from marching bands, to orchestras and jazz bands, to heavy metal cover bands (yikes). Over the past 10 years I've been heavily involved in worship music in some sort or another, starting off as one of the 2 primary drummers at Crossroads Christian Church in Evansville, Indiana from 1996-2000. In March of 2000, my wife and I were called to move to the San Francisco Bay Area. While there, I held the main worship drummer seat at New Life Church in Fairfield, California for over 6 years, performing with various artists including David Cobb, Joe Ellison, Kristy Janzen, Kirk & Joni Bovill, Tom Braxton & Loren Johnson to name a few. I also played in "The JR Ellison Band" for several years - check them out Here - The J.R. Ellison Band . Not long after recording our first CD (Oct 2005), God called me to move to the Nashville area for the next chapter in my life, and He is allowing me to serve at Grace Chapel Church in Leipers Fork.
Equipment: I'm currently playing Tama Starclassic drums and hardware, Sabian cymbals and Vater sticks.

My Interests

Musical drumming, any type of music, golf

I'd like to meet:

Jesus, Steve Gadd, Neil Peart, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colauita, Gregg Bissonette, Peter Gabriel, John Bonham, Phil Collins, and Tiger Woods to name a few.

Music:

I grew up listening to all the prog bands like Rush, early Genesis, King Crimson to name a few.
Of course I love classic rock like Led Zep and The Who as well.
I've also gotten into lots of prog rock like Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree and Muse for example.
But, over the past several years I've gotten into hip hop, funk, blues and jazz. I'm finding that my favorite "beats" are from those genres.
I credit my worship pastor from New Life Church in California for helping me grow from a hard hitting heavy metal drummer to a finesse & technique driven hip hop/funk drummer. Wow - who would have thought that could happen? Thanks David!! Also, thanks to Joe Ellison for believing in me and giving me a chance...
