Music's newest pop/rock group, Roads To Rome, is the flagship artist for the label, Union Street
Records. Led by vocalist/songwriter Mike Musick, the band has begun carving a name for itself in
the U.S. as well as abroad with its high-energy performances and commitment to excellence. Prior to
forming the band two years ago, Musick had already released a critically acclaimed solo album. Musick moved to Nashville in 2004 and began assembling a group of like-minded musicians. He enlisted bassist Seth Marcum, keyboardist Kevin ONeal, and drummer David Burch.
Marcum, previously a South Dakota resident, plays with an innovative style that is the key to the Roads to
Rome sound. He comes from a family that travels and does music, so hes got that background, says
Musick. Hes 21 years old and hes an incredible musician. Hes a very positive person and his heart is
in the right place.
Musick says his association with ONeal began about three years ago. I was playing with two other guys
and we were just doing a trio thing, Musick recalls of their meeting. Once ONeal heard the music, he
got really excited and wanted to be a part of it. Since then, hes really become one of my strongest
friends. Hes the motivator for the rest of the guys in the band because he sees the vision of the group.
Steve Ashley plays electric guitars and sings backup. Steve has written several top-charting songs and is a great addition to the spirit of the band. "Steve is one of the hardest working guys I know and is becoming a great friend, " says Musick.
The newest member of the group is Ray Gonzalez. "We have been on the search for a new drummer and Ray really fit right in with our vision and music. Ray is hilarious and one of the best drummers in Nashville."
The quality of the bands songs is a distinguishing feature of the Roads to Rome sound. Long a
dedicated songwriter, Musick says he was blessed early in his career to be mentored by key people like
Mitch Dane, who produces Jars of Clay. Dane, among others, helped him develop his craft. That was a
really good experience in learning song writing, he says of his early association with Dane.
Roads to Rome began garnering a strong following among the college crowd with the release of a five
song EP, The First Five. Released February 2004, the projects lyrical depth and musical inventiveness
drew comparisons to Coldplay and U2. The EP topped the charts in several markets. They shared valuable
chart position with such major acts as U2, Beck, Mars Volta, Kings of Leon, and Ben Folds.
Roads To Rome has just returned from a successful tour across the U.S. on the highly
popular ShoutFest Tour
Since the groups inception, Roads To Rome has kept a heavy touring schedule in the United States and
parts of Europe, including extensive tours throughout Turkey and Ireland. Their touring experiences
demonstrated to the band the power their music had to impact lives. They entered the studio fired up
about crafting their debut CD.
The result is Love Rain Down, an impressive set of pop rock anthems powered by Musicks passionate
voice and literate, thoughtful song writing. Musick isnt afraid to challenge convention and urge others to
look at themselves and the world in a different way. The first single Alive In Me beautifully and powerfully
echoes the rich, emotional experiences of feeling the pain and power of love. Love Rain Down is
a stunning power ballad marked by Musicks potent vocal performance. Long Road to Memphis is a
moving tribute to the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Im a big fan of songwriters who can take words I use for basic communication and manipulate them into songs with such meaning and purpose and emotion that they haunt me. Michael Musick has done exactly that with Alive in Me a song so incredibly big that it has a life of its own and so wrought with conviction that it aches. Such commitment in so inspiring that it takes your breath away. I look forward to many more wonderful things from Roads to Rome.
