About Me

View les honky more tonkies's EPKLes Honky More Tonkies is a rock band. And because they hail from Nashville, they throw in a healthy amount country, bluegrass, roots and southern rock. Not because they have to, but because they can. It's in their blood.Coming up with a band name ain't easy, but when a friend shouted the nonsensical phrase "less honky, more tonky" at a Junior Brown show in 1997, the soon-to-be pioneering members of Les Honky More Tonkies knew that it was a sign from a drunken profit on a higher plain. In 1997, guitarist and lead singer Johnny Mark Miller, aka Johnny Pyro, left his hometown of Kingsport, TN to reunite with former band mate, musical brother, and drummer who brings the thunder, Joie Todd Kerns, aka Joey Lonzo, who had recently migrated to Nashville himself. Deep in the heart of music city, they began laying the groundwork for Les Honky More Tonkies. By the summer of '98, they had played their first gig in the Big Guitar and by 2001; they had released their debut album, "Greatest Hits".Like most bands these days, Les Honky More Tonkies have been through their share of line up changes. Hell, keeping a band together for 8 years is hard enough. After hiring and firing some fine, and not so fine, musicians, Pyro and Lonzo enlisted the help of Jeremy Pennebaker, aka Strokey, Jason Graumlich, aka Levi Gunn, and Rob Ogles, aka Big Sammy Bravo. The boys released their sophomore effort "The Fabled Catbird Seat" in early 2005 to rave reviews and released the EP, "76", five songs to fire up the southern rock revolution in April of 2007.If you enjoy the revved-up rock without pretension and shoe gazing…if you enjoy songs to slam a PBR in a can to…and if you think that Iron Maiden and John Prine should have recorded an album together…then Les Honky More Tonkies is the band for you. Stay tuned.
