SINGLE REEL FILM & VIDEO FESTIVAL
HTTP://WWW.SINGLEREEL.ORG
Single Reel is dedicated to developing a platform for personal films, the festivals goal is to create a forum for emerging independent filmmakers, animators and artists working with film as a medium of artistic expression rather than a tool for entertainment. The festival is in a series of installments throughout the year. Single Reel was created by filmmakers and artists for artists, in an effort to open up an outlet for recognition of short films made by personal means, endless hours of work with small crews and micro-budgets, keeping intact the solitary vision of the filmmakers.
We strongly believe these truly independent films deserve and generate a genuine interest to audiences and other artists around the globe without the intervention of corporate sponsors and studios. Single Reel is a grassroots approach and chooses to stay so by avoiding intense competition driven by major studios and financial institutions. Making films is not about money or entertainment. It is a humanistic effort to understand and retell the human condition to each other, to rejoice, inspire, grasp, follow, hear, see, believe it further.
Within this light, we invite all honest filmmakers and audiences to join us in our mission.
Single Reel was established in order to foster opportunities for connecting filmmakers to audiences by providing venues and events to showcase films which are original, thought-provoking and indicative of a commitment to the art of the truly independent cinema.
