[email protected]. WIX (Malvin Wix)Mr. Wixs all-round style, digging deep in the crates and spinning everything from hip hop to broken beats, has made him a well-known name in the Dutch DJ scene. Perfecting his skills on the decks since the mid-nineties, his career first takes off in 1999, when he lands a monthly residency at Bassline (Paradiso), Amsterdams main hip hop/R&B night. His musical insight and originality lead Nike to ask him for a musical consulting gig which he holds to this day; he adds his freshness to Nikes various (inter)national ad campaigns and events (Panna KO, Nike Secret Tournament Campaign, Stick Man Campaign). Other companies, such as Vodafone, soon follow suit.
Not content with just spinning his records at other peoples parties, 2000 sees the launch of his own monthly nights, Chocolate (Off_Corso, Rotterdam) and Knockout (Melkweg, Amsterdam). These nights prove to be a platform for Wixs creative genius, adding his flavor to the whole package from art work to programming. His parties attract a fresh and funky young crowd and are always packed.
In 2003 major moves are made in the creative arena. Wix continues to set up collabos and launches Bling, a partnership between Jimmy Woo, Gan-Baaro, Chocolate and Hennessy. That same year he starts as the DJ and co-host for VPROs national radioshow 3voor12XL. His sounds now invade the airwaves (and internet) on a weekly basis, infecting countless more listeners with his dope selection of cuts.
