Rolling on a River

About Me

Juan Fantastico, Johnny Swank - whatever. It tough having multiple alternative personalities but I'm game.In 2000 spent six months thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. that trip was an incredible experience, and certainly had an effect on everything I've done since then.Last summer my fiance and I paddled 2,150 miles down teh Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers to support the Audubon Society's Upper Mississippi Campaign. You can check out the details at www.sourcetosea.net .Writing a book on the trip which will be out this October if the thing doesn't kill me first. Also a track guy for the Carolina Rollergirls. I'm a world champion ropelight taper. That stuff's on lock.

My Interests

Paddling, slide blues, backpacking, and writing.

Short Trips vs. Long Trips - Planning

It doesn't make sense. The time it takes to plan a trip should be proportional to the amount of time you're out, right? You know - going out for a long weekend should take less time than going out for...
