...new CD out in September...

About Me

Dual Angel Award nominee Vanessa Kersting is a Singer Songwriter from the land down under. Nominated in 2005 for best R&B song and again in 2006 for best Folk Song Vanessa is making her mark on the Christian music scene both in Australia and Worldwide.Growing up the youngest of 2 children Vanessa and her sister would often be found playing the piano or making up a tune or performance to show to those who came to visit with their family.Music was always a strong influence in Vanessa’s life and in 1997 and 1998 a glimpse of Vanessa’s future as a singer / piano player was seen when Vanessa won first place in the Self-Accompanied sections of the South-East Eisteddfods for under 16’s.Vanessa continued with her music through her schooling and after writing her first song in 2000 with Nathan Leigh Jones, fellow Australian Singer / Songwriter / Pianist Vanessa had found her niche.Vanessa continued with her song writing and in 2002 finally headed into the recording studio to start working on her first demo EP ‘FaithChild’. With the band and engineer all getting into the grove of the songs it wasn’t too long before the studios soon became a second home to Vanessa. 2 years later Vanessa would again head into the studios to start recording her first full length album ‘Restin’.‘Restin’ received publicity and airplay all over the world. The first single Ask Me had much success but it was the first track ‘Love’ that would make it into the number 24 position in the top 30 on Kangar International Radio station. Something Vanessa had thought would be totally impossible for a young woman from Australia.More recent years have seen Vanessa back in the studio working on her 3rd CD release ‘Secure.’ This time has also seen Vanessa leading worship at Perichoresis Conferences and touring throughout the US, Canada and Australia.Obvious comparisons have linked Vanessa’s music to other female piano based artists such as Delta Goodrem and Sarah McLachlan, but more recently a magazine review compared Vanessa’s lyric style to that of Amy Grant. With the themes of hope and love in her music, Vanessa is passionate to see the truth of the gospel permeate deep into people’s souls and uses this as a basis for every time she sings or speaks. This is also reflected in the organizations that Vanessa links herself with and the work that she does with young people at risk of homelessness in her home town of Adelaide in Australia. If you are intersted in learning more about the organisations Vanessa is linked with you can find out more information at Addis Ababa Fistula Foundation or Perichoresis.org .
