Varied. Yeah, alot of people say that but I mean it. I'm also capable of doing high level composites (carbon fiber) troubleshooting, design, and such. In short, you want something made out of composites, I probably can help. I love people of all kinds from the simple guy who makes me a burger at the King Chef to the complicated ones. Currently working on some short stories (which are getting long) that are fiction. But working on compiling a book of my crazy life experiences (creative non-fiction). Own 4 bikes and enough parts probably for 1 more. Collect music and constantly searching for new music.
I've traveled to 12 countries and can speak enough Dutch and speak it well enough to pass for Dutch in Amsterdam as well as small towns. Course it's only 10 words, but I manage. I love beer and have toured 4 breweries now. Or is it 5? I love intense things but also really love a nice long walk with a girl. Just her and I. Course, missing the girl right now, but I'll live. :-)
Love movies, no I haven't been in any. No not even those types. Much too talented. Hehehehe. Have a mild thing for Tiki stuff. Have a kick ass Tiki Lava Lamp. I'm a tech geek too. Yeah. But you know I'm still just a guy from MN at heart. Believe in people. Like people who are people and not a reflection of what they think pop culture thinks people should be. Did I mention i like beer?Real people....independent thinkers who just like to do their own thing. Whatever that may be. I like real people. People who are on a get rich quick path (MLM wankers) can move on to the next weak mind. I like people who like to live life and enjoy it. Simple as that. Whether you jet off to Tahiti to relax or just out to your to your patio with a bottle of cheap beer...fine with me. Just be yourself and always remember where you came from.
Nowadays I find new music by reading Mojo. I also use Allmusic.com to cross reference bands I know I like with ones they influenced/were influenced by/sounds like. I also have an XM Radio and tied into the MPLS and Colorado music scene somes as well as the latest from elsewhere. I tend to get into the history as well and am particularily fascinated with The Replacements as well as the later Mark Sandman of Morphine's developement of his music style. Yet I do have some fascination with things like traditional Japanese drums as well as middle eastern music.
Here is a small list o f my favorites.
James Brown, Diana Ross, Agent Orange, The Replacements, Morphine, Glen Branca, Sonic Youth, Peaches, Iggy Popp, The Descendents, Fishbone, Massive Attack, Joy Division, Faithless, Chemical Brothers, Dune, Mission of Burma, Pixies, The Cult, TSOL, Paul Westerburg, Shadowy Men from Shadowy Planets, Sleater-Kinny, Boondoggle, The Cramps, The Cure, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Human Shield, Guitarzan vs Bazzilla, Dallas Orbitor, ARE Weapons, Interpol, Social Distortion, Lords of Acid, Butthole Surfers, Devotchka, Prahga Khan, Split Lip Rayfield, Old Crow Medicine Show, Badly Drawn Boy, Death from Above 1979, Gluciefer, Clutch, Split Lip Rayfield, Bad Brains, The Strokes, Prodigy, Siouxie & The Banshees, Johnny Thunders, Portishead, Jim Croce, Johnny Cash, Dusty Springfield, Nancy Sinatra, Shelia E, Madonna, Prince, Soul Asylum, Basement Jaxx, Soul Coughing, Luscious Jackson, Dinosaur Jr, Hot Snakes, Dick Dale, Jimi Hendrix, Mudhoney, Bad Brains, Paul Anka, Michael Buble, Billy Joel, and many more....This Placebo video for "Every Me and Every You" is pretty cool btw....I think it's best to preface a list of movies I like with my feeling on movies. I think movies do have multiple roles in our lives just like music does and thus we need multiple types. Yes, Adam Sandler's movies are hardly works of great cinematic skill and never will be considered as a rival to the classics but you know what? He's fucking funny. However I do think there is a place for movies like The Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me which I'd argue are great stories. But I do like movies like the Station Agent and Second Hand Lions which are small indy type movies but serve a purpose too. Yet believe it or not I still will defend movies like Blade, The Matrix, Bad Boys, and so forth because you know I like that shit too. I always find it interesting how the "open minded" independent film lover will refuse to indulge in some of these other genres. I think some could use some action and comedy in their life. All in all though, I live my life based on the works of Ferris Bueller. Here is a good clip from the BMW Film Series. It is called "The Star", directed by Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Lock Stock) and stars Madonna and Clive Owen. In short it kicks friggin' ass. Enjoy: .. width="425" height="350".. .. ....
Rabbit ears and 8 channels. Don't really watch TV except to watch DVD's. I will say "House" kicks ass and is the only show I watch. Really like that show, but that's it. Okay fond of American Dad and Family Guy too. Entourage and Sopranos when I can get ahold of HBO at a friend's. Miss that.
Comic books to fiction to non-fiction. Daredevil and Preacher are my two favorites in comic books. Fiction I'm found of "In the Lake of the Woods", "Ceremony" (years since I read it though), "A Good Man is Hard to Fnd" by Flannery O'Connor is a great short story that is NOT what you'd expect from the title. Non-fiction I've read a bunch of stuff. I was history major so I like that. Big magazine fan since it seems to be what I have time for. Mojo, The Economist, Bike, Men's Journal, Atlantic Monthly, Wired, and random stuff. Sometimes I turn the subtitles on just to read. Funny eh? I think Close Caption rocks because you can read and watch TV at the same time. I am currently readnig "The Tipping Point" and trying to read "The Creative Class"
Too numerous to list. I'm a history major so I could be here all day. I will say all the good mom's and single mom's out there really impress me. Not easy being a mom in my mind no matter what your situation is. I know what my mom has been through having to raise me so I have a lot of respect for mom's.
