I only have two requirements of the people I spend my time with: don't lie to me, and do what you say you're going to do. The latter tends to trip people up, so if you're flaky and you know it, pass on by. =) I'm looking for someone with some level of maturity and education who also likes to have fun and can trade jokes with the best of them. I have a deeply twisted sense of humor and can watch South Park for hours. I also love a deep, philosophical coversation that dives into a topic and rolls around in it until it's all covered in muck, but doesn't have to solve anything. A good debate just for the sake of debate is fine by me, as long as we both know it's just brain exercise and we don't get all caught up in trivialities like being "right." On a professional level, I'm an editor/agent who is currently taking on new clients. (I specialize in fiction, but do not do sci-fi or fantasy.) I'm not looking for folks who have simply started a novel and abandoned it two chapters in and are now looking for someone to reassure them that their writing is worthy of the paper it would require to publish it. Rather, I'd like to connect with the kind of people who work hard at their craft and who simply need an editor to polish and perfect their work, or an agent to market it to publishers and negotiate a favorable contract. As far as editing, I would consider "in-progress" work under rare circumstances, but it's best for all involved if the book is at least close to being finished. If not, a detailed outline is definitely necessary. Contact me directly regarding editing rates or with any other questions pertaining to editing or agency, (but please do not send a friend request).
