Never Knowlingly Undertold

About Me

MyGen Profile Generator I write music books (BERNARD SUMNER: CONFUSION ... DAMON ALBARN: BLUR, GORILLAZ AND OTHER FABLES ... I SWEAR I WAS THERE - THE GIG THAT CHANGED THE WORLD - recently voted one of the top 50 rock books of all time) and I lecture at Salford University on documentary directing and scriptwriting and train journalists and programme makers at the BBC and ITV. I travel a lot but home is on the edge of the Peak District on the outskirts of Manchester. I'm the luckiest person I know - I have a lovely family and I've done pretty much what I've wanted to do since I was about 16. My only vice is sweets - no, really. I've also written and produced the documentaries I SWEAR I WAS THERE ... THESE THINGS TAKE TIME: THE STORY OF THE SMITHS ... MEET THE BUNNYMEN and TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY VALE ... I've worked in radio, newspapers and magazines. Basically, I've never done a stroke of proper work in my life.

My Interests

Music:

Huang Chung 'Hold Back The Tears' 1982. It's ok ... it's cool. It just LOOKS uncool.
