About Me

Someone pointed out that they wouldn't know it's me on myspace so I decided to say a little something about me.
I was a PR and Entertainment Manager at Sandals Resort for a year, PR Manager at Tuff Gong International for 7 years, Client Services Manager at James Hill Design for 4 years, and for the last 2 years I've been an independent PR/Marketing Consultant and Graphic Designer (casting agent on occasion).
I was the first to host a weekly Rock Night and Live Rock Show in Jamaica for our underground alternative bands. The rock night became a weekly happening for years at Carlos Cafe and spawned many others. Let's not forget the wild alternative parties as Girl Power (with my girlfriends DJ Sunshine and Jen). I was a disc jockey hosting my own show on RJR (one of Jamaica's most popular radio stations) for 6 years and would spin at various nightclubs including Margaritaville.
I've hosted live on-air outside broadcasts of Reggae Sunsplash, Reggae Sumfest, and Jamaica Carnival. My articles have been published in local as well as international newspapers and magazines. Wrote artist bios (including Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers, I-Three, Rita Marley, Pinchers) and interviewed artists (including Roberta Flack, Chaka Khan, Boukman Eksperyans, Maxi Priest) for both print and radio. Travelled to promote artists (mainly from Tuff Gong), seek licensing/distribution deals, and Emcee live shows (including Bob Marley Birthday Bash).
Been involved in alot of local and international photo shoots, video shoots, and audio recordings in different capacaties (as talent as well as behind the scene facilitation, set-up, production, casting, and editing). I've also done my fair share of voicing (speaking not singing).
I'm kinda running out of breath right about now. I've lived enough life for someone twice my age and I'm still going. Took a couple years off the social scene and general hustle and bustle when I married my hubby who's a talented fine arts painter, illustrator, and bonsai teacher. You can check out the website I did for him at http://www.johncampbell.741.com . It's a free site (until I finish it and upgrade) so it has alot of pop-ups.
Yeah I know what you're saying. Why haven't I done a myspace for him yet? Well I just did. You can check it out at http://www.myspace.com/johndartist and his bonsai guy site at http://www.myspace.com/bonsai_guy . Don't forget to add him to friends.
Yes I'm back and taking it one day at a time. Just trying to be me and enjoy life.

My Interests

Music of all kinds except country. The closest I get to country is southern rock. Other interests: books, the internet (especially RSS syndication), marketing, my family tree, learning Spanish.

I'd like to meet:

New and old friends. Myself in Twenty years. Jesus. Shakespeare.

Music:

Oh my! This could be a long list. Well, here's the short version in no particular order. The Cure, The Smiths, Kate Bush, Metallica, Sound Garden, Jane's Addiction, Sting, Seal, Prince, Bob Marley, Jr. Gong, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Barbara Streisand, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Led Zeppelin, Souls Of Mischief, A Plus, Saul Williams, Black Eyed Peas, Talib Kweli, Roots Manuva, The Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkley, Wolfmother, Panic at the Disco, Coldplay, Steel Pulse, Journey, Kings of Leon, TV on the Radio, Jet, The Police, David Bowie, Jimmy Hendrix, U2, Morcheeba, Nirvana, Queen, REM, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Audio Slave, The Roots, Simple Minds, Talking Heads, Linkin Park, Aerosmith, Hot Hot Heat, The Yeah Yeahs, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, The Cranberries, Coctaeu Twins, Thompson Twins, Scissor Sisters, Finlay Quaye, Sean Paul, Depeche Mode, James Blunt, Stevie Nicks, The Prodigy, The Sugar Cubes, Simply Red, Nina Simone, Sade, Bjork, Ten Thousand Maniacs, Natalie Merchant, Saliva, The Who, The Beatles, The Black Crowes. It should go without saying that I love all the artists in the Jamaican underground scene (like Storm Band, Katherine, Rootz Underground). We have so much talent in this country that we don't know what to do with it. Right now, I think Tanya Stephens new album is gonna be the next big thing out of Jamaica.

Movies:

Sin City, The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Spiderman, Xmen, Batman Returns, The Incredibles, Snatch, Layer Cake, Pirates of the Caribbean, Romeo & Juliet, Raising Arizona. Lots of others.

Television:

Way too much Law & Order. Still watching X Files. The 4400, Dead Zone, Monk, House, Supernova, The Boon Docks, Family Guy, Futurama, American Dad, Charmed. Lots of TLC, HGTV, DIY, Sci Fi, USA, Cartoon Network, WB, MTV, and HBO.

Books:

Would love to get back to reading at least one good book a week. I still love sci fi, horror, and metaphysical topics. Gave up on the Vampire Chronicles from Anne Rice after Memnoch the Devil the last best in that series. Haven't read any more Stephen King since The Dark Tower. The last books I read and liked were The Celestine Prophesy and DaVinci Code. Sad I know but hopefully I'll come across a slew of really good books.

Heroes:

My late grandmother Ruby Francis - a more loving soul you will never encounter. My stepdad Desmond Green - a philosophy genius who is truly at peace with himself as well as everyone and everything around him. My husband John Campbell who is my inspiration - he has no fear when pursuing his dreams. http://johncampbell.741.com
