We would like to send out a special thanks to all who came and helped make Fabulous Fifties Weekend a great success!
Jimmy couldn't sit down for doing The Bristol Stomp with the Dovells and some of the original Dick Clark American Bandstand Dancers! When he finally did get a chance to sit down it was only to sign autographs with author Jim Rosin of the new book "Philadelphia City of Music". A literary masterpiece to which Jimmy had the honor of writing the foreword. Charlie Gracie was on hand and this month you could win a copy of Charlie's new DVD when you tune in to The Rewind Show. Also don't forget to purchase your copy of his new CD Best of Cameo Parkway. Jimmy also visited with Grammy award winner Tony Camillo and a hot new artist Tony is producing Michelle Parto. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer David Brigati was there as well as his brother Bobby Vallie (Both members of Joey Dee's Starlighters) Former owner of Chancelor Records, Bob Marcucci showed up to join the festivities and chat with Jimmy about the good ole' days when he discovered Frankie Avalon and Fabian. The weekend was a great success and to those of you who missed it we hope to see you again next year! To all who came, once again THANK YOU!

By Mike Richard:In the history of rock ‘n roll radio, every era had a disc jockey who became the veritable pied piper of his listening audience.
The early 50s had Alan Freed, and as the years rocked on so too did Murray the K, Arnie “Woo Woo†Ginsburg, Norm N. Nite, Jack Carney, Dick Biondi, Jerry Blavat, and Robert W. Morgan.
Jimmy Jay also fits into this unique rock ‘n roll radio fraternity.
Born in Dorchester, MA he was brought up in Quincy MA He began his gig on radio the day of his 19th birthday January 11, 1969, with the first record he played, Tommy Roe’s “Dizzy,†heralding in his career at Fitchburg’s (Mass) WEIM. Before long, he was doing live interviews that summer at the Woodstock Music Festival and the rest, as they say, is history.
Jimmy Jay, “The DJ of the Stars†has logged thousands of radio hours from spots throughout New England and the entire East Coast, including CBS Station WJOY. His programs have been spiced with hundreds of personal interviews he’s conducted with some of music’s top performers. Jimmy was also a DJ on WCAT, WGAW, and WEZE Boston. In 2005 Jimmy was honored at WEIM, WCAT, & WGAW to return to these stations for “Jimmy Jay Dayâ€. Result 2 front page news stories in the local papers.
The Beach Boys, Bobby Vee, Chubby Checker, Sonny Turner, The Chi-Lites and BJ Thomas aren’t just celebrities who Jimmy has interviewed on numerous occasions, they are also among his closest friends in the business.
Taking a page out of the rock ‘n roll deejays of the 1950s, Jimmy Jay also did live radio shows from remote locations as well as pioneering his share of around-the-clock radio music marathons.
When the 1950s music craze made a comeback in the mid-70s, “Jimmy Jay’s Rock ‘N Roll Revival Show†was a popular Saturday night feature throughout New England airwaves, helping to kick off the oldies revolution of the decade. It was during this time Jimmy developed deep friendships with people like Charlie Thomas of the Drifters, Freddy Parris of the Five Satins, Johnny Maestro of the Crests and many more.
In the 1980’and 90’s Jimmy was know as Jay Michaels the host of the “Award Winning Time Tunnel†on WILD in Boston. His radio name during that time was Jay Michaels. Being a white DJ the radio station gave him that name to make him sound more like a black radio personality. It was during this time that Jimmy became the voice of Alan Haymon Concerts World Wide! It was not unusual to see Jimmy around people like, Luther Vandross, The Jackson’s, The Whispers, Will Smith, The Gap Band, James Brown, New Edition, Prince and well every entertainer in R&B music. If you went to any major concert during that time period in America it was most likely Jimmy’s voice that enticed you to go.
Today, radio listeners can continue to indulge in the upbeat music memories of the 1950s, 60s and 70s with his syndicated “Rewind†show, which currently plays over many stations in the U.S., as well as in over 40 countries worldwide.
In the spring of 2006 a new book titled “Philadelphia City of Music†was released by author James Rosen, Jimmy Jay was given the nod to write the forward to this book.
A third generation of rock ‘n rollers have the opportunity to appreciate his music talents, while also giving his first group of radio fans the chance to recall the good ol’ days of rock ‘n roll according to Jimmy Jay.
