Life is a succession of moments - to live each one is to succeed!

About Me

I am currently working on a very exciting drag-queen musical extravaganza for the Westend called THE QUEEN OF CLUBS , which will be produced in 2009 for the Westend.
I love the fact that this unique project has given me the opportunity to write a risque, sexy, dark emotional comedy which breaks so many rules and limitations. As well as already working alongside a very talented group of people on this project, there is also a possibility of forming additional collaborations with existing song writers and exciting up and coming talent, and that could be you!
Orignally from Chester in the North West of England and now living on the sunny South coast, I am a writer of all genres who particuarly specialises in comedy scripts. As well as commissioned scripts in post and pre-production, I have also had loads of poems and short stories published; written articles for Writer's Monthly magazine (in the 90s) and been a copy writer for an advertising agency.
My commissisoned scripts include modern day versions of A Midsummer night's dream and Gulliver's travels
"A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM" (click here to preview the script)
This commissioned script for the stage is a re-working of the William Shakespear classic, principally set in the woodland scenes but dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century with a conservation twist and a touch of comedy that only I could inject into it.
"GULLIVER'S TRAVELS" (click here to preview the script)
This commissioned script for the stage is a re-working of the Jonathan Swift classic which blends together a strong mixture of narrative re-writing and uniquely created three dimensional characters to make this an entertaining comedy script suitable for children and families.
I am also currently accepting proposals from theatre production companies to produce either of the following two full length comedy scripts:
"POSTCARDS FROM PARIS" (Click here for a preview of the full length script)
Anne was hoping that a long weekend away in Paris would put the romance back into her marriage. However, when Trudie Valentine one of Cable TV's most prolific and sexiest stars, turns up at their hotel to film a location documentary for the holiday show 'Postcards from abroad' her plans soon change and long suffering Anne comes home early without Frank.
But just what has happened to her husband?
"THE VERY MYSTERIOUS DISA-PIER-RANCE OF BILL BANKS" (Click here for a preview of the full length script)
Bill Banks needs to be free of his nagging, book obsessed wife Glenda, so together with his girlfriend Sylvie, they attempt to hatch a devious plot on her which will look like her own accidental death one afternoon on the pier at Breezy Bay.
However, it is Glenda who comes home safely that day and Bill's mysterious disa-pier-rance sparks a catastrophe of local TV reports and police investigations, particuarly in lieu of the fact that half a corned beef sandwich is all the evidence there is to go on.

I was also commissioned to write comedy for the drag queen cabaret star: THELMA SNATCH . Thelma wrote this following review: "Ricky, over the last 24 hours has produced a very funny, new and fresh script for my show. With a great deal of professionalism and communication along with great rates. So I suggest for all your comedic writing needs this is the guy to see!"
"TV COMEDY SKETCHES" (click here to preview a sample selection)
I am currently accepting commissions to write comedy sketches for TV, radio or short films.
Coming soon: Poetry and Short stories.

My Interests

I love comedy writing, walking my naughty doggies, watching classic comedy DVDs and films, reading, relaxing, gardening, playing on the Wii (badly), drinking, eating out, theatre and travelling as often as possible.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone interested in writing, particuarly script writing and comedy writing.

Anyone interested in producing either of my two full length comedy theatre scripts 'Postcards from Paris' and 'The very mysterious disa-pier-rance of Bill Banks.' I am looking for complete domination across the boards in every town and city in Britain.

Anyone looking for a script writer to commission for other projects.

Anyone working within literary agents who is keen to represent a hard working, dedicated professional script or novel writer.

Email me at: [email protected]

Music:

I like lots of different types of music.

Movies:

I like gory and supernatural films, comedies, historic adventure, chick flicks and kids fantasy type.

Television:

Comedies, comedies and more comedies. I just love watching comedies old and new, in particular Friends, Will & Grace, Absolutely Fabulous, Fawlty Towers, Dinner Ladies, Keeping up Appearances, To the Manor Born, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Joey, Hi-de-Hi and too many more to list.

However my absolute favourite series ever has to be the The Golden Girls who were the main inspiration for me to pick up a pen and start comedy writing.

I also love reality TV shows - I nearly made it into Big Brother 4 (UK version) but thankfully I never quite did. If anyone remembers this one (unlikely I would say) it was the really boring one where everyone had stupid names, Cameron won and nobody watched it!

Books:

I love Joanne Harris, Tracy Chevalier, Bill Bryson, Marianne Curley and loads of others.

Heroes:

I don't know!!! I don't think I have any!
