Todd Bodine

Todd Bodine is a well-known race car driver. Contrary to his namesake, another Todd Bodine, the well-known German electronic music artist, paves his way in the international techno/house scene.Born in Berlin, Todd Bodine already began to take on his own musical tastes at the age of 17. Just after the fall of the Berlin Wall he discovered a fascination for the young, techno club scene in Berlin, bought some records, practiced alone at home and began to establish himself as DJ at private parties. As it happened, in 1997 he met Daniel Paul in his favourite record store, who would later become his friend and mentor. This was the inception of Cabinet Records, for which Todd would begin producing his own music two years later. But first he was busy DJ´ing with Daniel Paul in Berlin clubs like Rosenthaler 59, Casino and WMF, until 1997 when he found his home base in the legendary Tresor Club. It was there that he delivered his best energetic sets until 2005 when the club closed.Yet Todd Bodine wanted more. He began together with Daniel Paul to produce his own first tracks. Inspired from this work, he set up his own home studio in 1997, from which his first solo house project was born (Travel EP - Cabinet Records 019). In the next two years he released further conjoint productions on Cabinet Records and on Mermaid Records (Slope - Mermaid 001, Cabinet Allstarts - Cabinet Records 20).Through his job as Tresor Club resident DJ, he gained even more contacts and eventually in 2002 he moved to the Rampe D studio to further develop his music. At that time he met the Berlin DJ icon Tom Clark (Highgrade Records) and thereby laid the groundwork for his extended career. Todd´s track on the compilation (Various Artists - Highgrade Records 008) saw the start of a new professional co-operation with the Highgrade label. From that time on he released a track every year, and the Digital Madness Series was born. Through his friendship with Tom Clark he met Stefan Riesen who immediately expressed interest in Todd Bodine´s tracks. This lead to the first maxi on Morris Audio Citysport in 2003 (System of Society - Morris Audio Citysport Edition 002).Enthusiastic about Todd´s talent, Stefan Riesen gave some tracks to Apoll Tongut. On this small Swiss label Todd released his third maxi for the year (Moments Between - Tongut 009).Then the Tresor Records label began to show interest in its seasoned DJ resident. In 2002/2003 Todd Bodine released his first tracks on Tresor Records (Headquarters Berlin: Various Artists - Tresor.197; Tresor Compilation Volume 12: Illumination - Tresor.212). Numerous releases on Highgrade compilations followed. Together with Tom Clark and James Flavour, he played at Highgrade label nights in diverse clubs. Through his booking agency Clique Bookings, his international career began to flourish.In 2004 Todd Bodine again made further significant steps. He began to play (DJ) digitally with Scratch Live (Serato), achieving a new dimension for himself and his work. Gradually he started playing in clubs throughout Germany, Italy, France, Great Britain, Sweden and Austria. In what had been his most important year 2005 he couldn´t only concentrate on international gigs because he was also busy releasing his debut album "Different Engines" on Morris Audio Citysport. At the same time Todd began to produce remixes for Highgrade Records and Morris Audio Citysport. He then released two maxis on Tresor Records (Life Signs EP and Particles EP). Both tracks were forerunners of his Tresor album "Surfaces" that was released in the beginning of 2006.
