About Me

..
Some of you may know Jocey and I from the 80's Fresno punk band Capitol Punishment . In '95 after that band broke up I continued working on other bands and musical projects as Jocey took a break from playing bass. The last project right before the Dustups was an ill-fated cover band that was a musical illustration of the development of punk throughout the history of rock. Sounded like a good idea at the time, but in '02 after a negative review it was time to go back to the drawing board. In writing new material a soul-searching analysis of purpose followed. Having been a punk ideologue for many years, it was painful to watch that scene fragment and morph in the late 90's into something that had in my opinion lost it's original ideals. Most of the people I considered visionary from the 80's either went away or passed away. But the one constant thing throughout the years has been our love of music in general and Democratic politics. Getting emotional over political issues, old pop songs, music from movies and live performances of all types has always been fuel for the fire. Favorite mix tapes from the 80's usually had punk on one side and either rockabilly, post-punk, pop or comedy on the other. This project is an attempt to get back to that Eden of primal music and yet move on to something new and mature.
In a quest for the big reasons why I end up back at the political lyrics of the folk singers of the protest era, the cool groove of the earliest rockers, the art of the masters of songwriting and punk pragmatism. I hope we synthesized these elements into something good and meaningful.
