Mert Alkaya

Born in 1976 Istanbul Turkey . Started to play drums at the age of 15. He played with the popular rock band 'Badluck' when he was 17. In 1996 he played with 'Isigin Yansimasi' and released the album 'Birdenbire' which was awarded the best third rock album of that year by the Cumhuriyet Newspaper. He went to France in 1998 the bands name was ALIS. A union of French and Turkish musicians (Kubilay Sezerel - Can Cankaya) and released a live recording album from the concerts in France. In 2002 he released the 'ASK' album with his band MISTER NO , then he started to play with Feridun Duzagac and performed in the album 'Orjinal Altyazili' which was a major top selling cd more than 400000 copies sold and more than 180 soldout shows made all around Turkey. After 2 years in 2004 'Uzun Uzun Feridun Duzagac' a live recording of the 28 May 2004 Harbiye Open Air Theater Concert which a small string orchestra of 12 musicians joined the band just for this show. After the release of the Aylin Aslim's Gulyabani album he started playing with her starting from the Fanta Youth Festival. He performed in the last album of Feridun Duzagac's 'Bir devam filmi siyah beyaz turkce dublaj' and Asli's 3. album ' Soyledigim Sarkilarda Sakli' . Also works with the guitar virtuoso Cem Koksal in his projects and recordings. Mert Alkaya proudly endorses Sonor Drums and Anatolian Cymbals.
