The Breakbeat and Drum and Bass group Antiform (Josh, Luke and Brendon) are creating a storm overflowing across the Tasman. Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, the boys have armed themselves with epic, bass-driven, melodic riffs and a floor storming live show that sends crowds into a feeding frenzy. You’ll find synths, samplers, wicked scratching and maybe even some live guitar at any of their shows. They are among the first picked to headline any major festival (Future Music, Phat08 NYE, Summerdayze, Godskitchen, Our House, Slinky, Groove in the Park, Highlife Entertainment and more) that come to town, because they are guaranteed crowd winners.
Josh & Luke Purcell met Brendon Spain through the mid 90's on the national DJ circuit before combining their talents to create Antiform in 2002, In 2003 Their first track ' Lardass ' was released on the Kog Transmissions compilation ‘Return of the Booomshwack’ mixed by Timmy Schumacher . 'Sweeper' was then released on The Grey Lynn Park Festival CD, a sampler of the biggest bands who play at the annual 5,000 strong event. Their track 'Alone' with vocalist Tamara Brons, create a cheeky stir in 2006. It was accompanied by a steamy, sweaty, cheerleader-filled video played on C4, Juice and Alt TV and led the way for interviews on music TV shows.
Their first project with Auckland’s MC Twincam created 'It’s all about' which hit number three on Radio BFM’s chart and feature on the Kingsland Electro compilation CD. In 2006 Antiform produced ‘Crash’, again with MC Twincam, an uplifting drum n bass classic which has been remixed by globally recognised Drum and bass producer Agent Alvin and is scheduled to be released in June 2008 by Broke Recordings which is acknowledged as being the leading Breakbeat record label in the UK.
In 2007 Antiform delivered 'Boombox', a ragga style tearout breaks tune released on the home of Tearout Breaks, Hardcore Beats. ‘Boombox’ created major hype with Screwface remixing the tune for Hardcore Beats 3 Compilation and is on the play lists of some of the worlds top Breakbeat Dj’s and producers including The Autobots, Aquasky, Ctrl-Z, Screwface and more.
2008 is the year of releases for Antiform. Due out before June 2008 is not one but three singles on Broke Recordings. ‘Grip’ featuring Hip Hop MC’s Neesh and Ethical  is out on 12†in June,  ‘Crash’ with MC Twincam in July but the track that is created the most excitement is ‘Got to be you’ the collaboration with Tiki Taane, one of the most central figures in the New Zealand Music Industry.
The ‘Got to be you’ EP is due for release in New Zealand through Dirty Dub, Tiki’s own label under Dirty Records in May 2008. Scheduled along with the EP release are Antiform and Tiki’s music video, worldwide 12†and digital release through Broke Recordings, numerous media appearances and a New Zealand and Australian Tour to promote the EP.  Antiform was also summoned for remix duties on Tiki’s latest single ‘Our Favourite Target’ which features Fur Patrol’s Julia Dean’s on Vocals and the track has featured in NZ music charts since it was released in January.
Antiform has also just been nominated for Best Breakthrough DJ at the Breakspoll 2008 awards in the UK along with four other big names in the Breaks Scene. This is a huge honour as Breakspoll is usually just a UK orientated awards ceremony and Antiform are the first Kiwis to ever be nominated!
