Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Hetti-Marie always knew that she wanted to
sing. "I can remember the day I got my first cassette player. I was so
thrilled that I could record my voice that I would rewind and playback so I
could harmonize with myself."
What began as singing in school talent shows and choirs, quickly led to solo
performances and eventually leading a band in front of thousands of people.
But the fear of not succeeding as an artist put Hetti-Marie's music career
temporarily on hold. She spent three years as an elementary school teacher,
where she cultivated a love for children. But even during that time, she
couldn't shake her passion for singing and finally decided to relentlessly
pursue her dream and encourage young people to do the same.
It was that life lesson of freedom from fear that became the premise for her
first recording. In 2004, she launched her debut album in Canada entitled,
"Truth" with indie label More Than Music Enterprise. The record received a number of accolades and awards in 2005 and opened many doors of opportunity to tour
in Canada and the U.S. But it was around that time that Hetti-Marie felt her niche
in the music industry evolving to a place far from her comfort zone.
A series of very fortunate events led Hetti-Marie & her manager to connect with David Mullen, a top producer in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mullen, whose songs have shaped the careers of such artists as Jaci Velasquez,
Anointed, Rachael Lampa and Nicole C. Mullen, agreed to work with Hetti-Marie
towards developing her song-writing ability and producing her next album.
"This year, I've been on a journey to discover my musical roots and I really feel comfortable in this place. I've found my voice and a sound that's compatible with
my energy and drive."
Keep your eyes and ears open for Hetti-Marie's upcoming album to be released
in March!
