This anointed woman of God is no stranger to the gospel music industry. She comes from a long line of talent in her family. Following in the footsteps of her father the late Bishop Tom Johnson (The Johnson Singers), she started singing at the young age of 5. During her teen years, she began traveling with her father's group across the country as the opening act for their shows. She also became very instrumental in her local church choir and groups.By the early 80's Cherry was performing under the leadership of the late Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. Being inspired by such gospel greats as Mahalia Jackson, Shirley Caesar, Tramaine Hawkins and Vickie Winans to name a few. She began to develop and mature her talents. Since then, she has advanced her skills of singing and song writing. She is presently the first lady and Missionary of Prayer Garden C.O.G.I.C. Where her husband Superintendent Jerry L. Givens is the Pastor.
