"God speaks through you, do not ignore Him" has been Kiki Breevlife's motto since the start of her Hip Hop journey. There is evidence of His Creative Force speaking especially through Kiki's music. Her aptly named alias describes exactly what she intends to do with her work: Breathe Life. ____________________________________________________________ ____Born in Brooklyn, NY at the threshold of her most influential genre of music, KiKi reminds her audience that she was born with "Hip Hop". Due to extreme poverty and an unsafe living environment as a teenager, Kiki Breevlife's mother relocated to Boston, MA in search of a better life. It was there that Kiki made use of her natural gift of lyricism and holds the title as Boston's most driven and influential female MC to date. KiKi Breevlife took the reigns on her own to begin performing at local open mics, entering and winning numerous freestyle battles along the city as well as in her hometown of New York City. She proves to be none short of an expressive artist with the ability to delve into the listener's soul and stir emotion. Her passion for writing formulates her exceptional gift of lyricism for she is a songwriter, poetess, and a vocalist. Her lyrics are filed with truth, passion, wisdom, and her words extend to navigate minds into new realms of logic. She presents diverse views of life, social issues, and personal experiences utilizing her incomparable voice. Kiki Breevlife is no doubt an activist and holds no bars when speaking the truth. ____________________________________________________________ ____In 1998 she became the sole female member within the group Genetix, which then changed the name to MSC, This group consisted of members, REKS, Lucky Dice and Chi Knox.When confronted with the reality that there was a lack of independant female mcs in the rap game to coming out with Raw Skills and go against the grain without male dominance, she created and co-founded R.A.W E.A.R.T.H, (Real Artistic Women Entering Any Realm Trying to Hinder) in March of 1999 with Shay D Atoms. Later, Lexi Driva and Wizdom joined the crew and together they started a female rap trio. Raw Earth grew to be the most influential female conglomerate in Boston with influences of Wu-Tanga and Boot Camp Click. Raw Earth offered young women resources for success in the rap game by showcasing thier individual talent. Raw Earth consisted of young female actresses, rappers, singers, and a STEP team. Through Raw Earth, Kiki has conducted workshops, including speaking and performing with and before inner-city youths. Raw Earth holds an annual Raw Earth Summer Jam, which premiered in 2000. Kiki Breevlife also worked closely with DJ Nomadik of Soulkore Productions. ____________________________________________________________ ____KiKi Breevlife brings an essence of purity to the stage. She has been spotted performing numerous occasions at Critical Breakdown, The Middle East Café, House of Blues (Cambridge), Milky Way Lounge, Paradise Lounge, Bill's Bar, Avalon, New York City's S.I.R Soundstage, with a spontaneous appearance at the Avalon's Lyricist Lounge 2000 Tour, along side Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Bahamadia, Slum Village, and many more notable artists. She has also taken her skills behind bars (literally) at South Bay Correctional Facility performing before men and female inmates for the Prison Empowerment Movement. In 2003 She appeared at the 1rst Annual Hip Hop Fest as the only female gracing the stage alongside, KRS One, Akrobatik, Special Ed, Pharoahe Monche, PMD, and Medusa. She returned to the 3rd Annual Fest gracing the stage with MC Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, many more... ____________________________________________________________ ____Her work is found on Critical Breakdown's compilation CD with the socially conscience track ‘Mind is Free' She sprinkles her talent on artist REKS' LP ‘Along Came The Chosen' singing, mcing, and vocalizing on various tracks including the rap duet ‘Till Death Do Us'. Other appearances include KAS' Taking Over the Masses mixtape, as well as DJ Ronin All Elements Vol. 6. as well as various other mixtapes...You've just got to find her. She's always there.When she wasn't laying tracks, she took her freestyle skills to the streets and the stage entering battles. She was semi-finalist for Biscuithead Record's 2000 MC battle, finalist at Kevin Powell's Harlem Hip Hop Speaks Conference event, (2002) and returned the following year to take home the title against 32 Male and Female MCs. Kiki was also CHAMPION of the first annual WAR OF THE ROSES female mc battle in 2001.In 2006 Kiki Breevlife was nominated at M.I.C's Hip Hop Music Awards and Urban Music Awards for Best Female Rap. This year 2008 she is nominated again for the Urban Music Awards.She is a full-time lyricist/business woman and puts effort into giving back to her community. She is socially aware of her surroundings and having to deal with all odds against her in a society that is designed to set up the "people", she hollers, " Try educating the youth through Hip Hop!" and by example, she is doing just that.
