If you know UK hip hop then you will know about London Posse and how they pioneered the sound of UK MCs chatting in English accents, you will have also probably wondered what happened to Bionic as he hasnt really released any music since his collaborations with Tricky under the name Mad Dog in the late 1990s. Well he is back on the scene, but if you are expecting a London Posse re-union then Im afraid you are out of luck as that is literally the last thing he wants to do. He has no interest in looking back to the past. You could tell from the sound of the last London Posse record Style in 1995 that as the producer Bionic had been influenced by the Jungle scene as the tune was a mix of hip hop and drum and bass, as opposed to their earlier mix of hip hop and reggae. He lets me know how he got into jungle...from about 95 I was trying to leave London Posse while other people were trying to keep me in after all those years I had just had enough of it and thats when I was moving in the jungle scene. I took some girls to a rave at Lazerdrome and when we got there the girls jumped out of the car and were shouting after this geezer Stevie Hyper D, Stevie Hyper D! I had heard that name before but I couldnt believe how much these girls were jumping round him. I thought if this is how hes controlling things in the jungle scene I want some of that! We stated talking and it turned out he had listened to London Posse from time, then he basically laid out the whole jungle scene for me who was who and how it all worked with the MCs. A lot of my bredrins had been trying to get me into jungle for a while but after I met Stevie it all just clicked and I came over from the Ragga sound system thing. He was telling me about bare girls and he started to bring me to all the raves Telepathy, Jungle Fever and all them, he just got me on the list for everything and from that I was deep into jungle. As he goes on to say it really opened up new possibilities for him Stevie opened up my eyes and ears about another way to MC, I got much more versatile than I was before. He prepared me for meeting Tricky and got me ready for the next level of going to America. I used to go back in the day and let off some lyrics but it was always on a ghetto level and he prepared me to take it up a gear. When I saw that Stevie had so many lyrics that he didnt really have to work on they just came to him and he flowed with it that really inspired me to work on my own lyrics. I was living in East London at the time and we used to ask every girl we met who is the biggest MC? they would always say Stevie Hyper D, then DET and Skibadee. I never really used to chat at jungle raves though, I was a raver! I was splitting my time between America and London and we had some big plans being formulated to link up and put out some music on a worldwide level, not just a London jungle thing but then he tragically died and the world lost a huge talent. After working with Tricky and learning more about production and linking with some female vocalists like Aina from True Ingredients, has come all the music that Bionic is dealing with now. The work in America led to some shows in Brazil and this led him to meet DJ Paschu who is helping to produce Bionics new material. The first song is called Get Naked and it will be released Six Million Dollar Records / Inigo Flo. Its not strictly hip hop but what he calls Brazil Bass as he explains it is like an original Miami bass tune but done Brazil style its their version of hip hop or ragga, I call it Brazil Bass and it is the ghetto music of Brazil talking about life in the favelas police, soldiers, drugs, girls, sex - everything that affects life in the ghetto. When my people out there explained to me how deep it is, what they are singing about and how they are dropping it its bad! I wanted people to know about it, so it is my mission to bring this style of music to England and the rest of the world. After hearing an accapella of some the new lyrics I can happily confirm that Bionic still has the wicked trademark flow and that he is back in a big way...watch this space!Me and my bredrin are working on building up a new label Six Million Dollar Records linking with Inigo Flo and putting out good quality music. Ive always been associated with hip hop and ragga but really Im just on a music thing and so I want to push out different styles that people wouldnt normally hear. Im working with this kid from Birmingham called Vader who is rough and I want to bring him through. Apart from that I only really work with girls bare man want to work with me but at the moment I am working with a wicked vocalist called Aina and a female MC called Candy Floss. The first new tune to be released is going to be called Get Naked and this will be dropping in summer with this new Brazilian style of music Im feeling. All the work I did with Tricky and the time I spent with him in America, as well as the time I have spent going to Jungle raves in London has really bought me to a whole new level with my music. He drops me an accapella of the new tune and people need not worry the trademark Bionic flow is still there and the lyrics to this first tune are HEAVY! I am sworn to secrecy regarding some ideas he has for the release but if they happen as he plans then everyone is going to know about it. love layout @ HOT FreeLayouts.com love / music / moviesMyspace Contact TablesMyspace Layouts, Contact Tables & More!
