LIVE FROM JAVA JOE'S JULY 18th, 2007
Changin’
Music © 2007 (Kariann, Aaron Dillon)
Words © Kariann
So I’ve been waiting for the day
For you to show me what to do
Gimme just a little taste
And I’ll feed you right on through
So I want you like a saint
And I want you like a sinner
I want you and your older age
I’m not afraid to be your anchor
I’m changing you
You’re changing me
Yet we’re the same without a clue
I’m changing you
You’re changing me
Show me the world I never knew
So I’ve been waiting for the day
For you to teach me how to move
Take my hand I’ll let you stay
We got nothing left to prove
I’m wrapped up in how you play
Hung up with every word you say
I want you and your subtle ways
Unadulterated prey
I’m changing you
You’re the changing me
You’re the reason I’m subdued
I’m changing you
You’re changing me
Show me your back door right on cue
I'm looking in to be
Be your favorite flavor
A secret you can’t keep
I’m looking to be
Be your one addiction
The subject you can’t cheat
"REFRESH"
(c) 2007 Kariann
When all your worries fled
With Twists and Turns inside your bed
And for once you thought your life was in the palm of your own hands
And you actually believed these things would never leave your head
Well you were very mislead
Very, very mislead
‘Cause it all comes back you and
You can’t take back those things you said
And it all comes back to me and
I can’t pretend I didn’t get . . .
And it all comes back to you and
Now you can’t say you’ve never sinned
And it all comes back to you and
Back to me and back to what I said
I said . . .
While I was watching every
Feeling leave your history
And felt your strength with every touch when you stood next to me
And I’d like to think I was the one who stirred your memory
Your past became my hopes and dreams
But I still don’t know what it means
And it all comes back to me and
I can’t take back the things I said
And it all comes back to you and
You can’t pretend that you weren’t fed
And it all comes back to me and
Your skin I’m touching every edge
Now it all comes back to you and back to me
And what I thought was dead
So dead
And you’re stuck in your comfort mess
Where you feel safe, you can’t refresh
Another doomed relationship
If you can’t see past your own sh**
I wanna know what you meant
I wanna hear words you haven’t said
I wanna see what you see – tell me
What’s inside your head
‘Cause it all comes back to you and
No you can’t hide - its time again
And it all comes back to me and
I will not try to change this end
And it all comes back to you and
What’s your choice? I’m listening
While it all comes back to me and
Back to me and back to what had been
I’ve been waiting . . .

Holiday (Seasons Change)
By Kariann - 2006
I watch the seasons change year after year
They come and go but not for me
I watch the people talking everywhere
They laugh together but with me
They stop and stare
Pre Chorus
Everybody seems so happy
Holding hands with someone else
This crowded street still feels so empty
While I walk by myself
Chorus
So forgive me when I say
You won’t see me smile today
I’m just so wrapped up in my pain
So forgive me when I fall
Asleep with my back to the wall
I’m searching for someone
Who was never there at all
So fast how summer fades to fall
The leaves fall down I count them all
Just to pass the time, sometimes I feel so small
Suddenly it’s winter, another year gone
Everybody seems so happy
Gathered around the Christmas tree
And someone special to hold on to
But no one there for me
So forgive me when I say
You won’t see me smile today
Every year it’s still the same
I take a walk alone outside
Let the cool breeze dry out my eyes
I’m searching for someone
Who’s only in my mind
Bridge:
I know there’s no answer to this question
I’m just hoping one day you’ll come along and prove me wrong
So forgive me when I say
You won’t see me smile today
I know I’m weak, I’m so ashamed
So forgive me as I cry
Away this holiday tonight
I’m searching for someone
I know I’ll never find
The seasons change
The seasons change
But it’s still the same
The seasons change
The seasons change
But I stay the same…
What We Had

Here's a video of me in the studio recording vocals for "What We Had" with my engineer Mike Simmons and my producer David Koval.
Bio
Kariann's always been artistic. Always writing. Always drawing. Always creating SOMETHING!
She and Chris Foerster started the band Waiting For Wednezday late 2004 and the two started writing songs together. Unfortunately, they only played one show in May 2005 and subsequently went on extended hiatus after the band's bass player abruptly quit. After realizing that she could co-write she decided to write some songs on her own. Her first solo composition was "My Favorite Punk" followed quickly thereafter by "Shades of Grey" and "Shattered Lullaby". She played these songs as a solo set following the Waiting For Wednezday set and got great crowd response.
Once she started writing she started noticing that most of her songs tended to be written about one person. His name is Matt. Matt was someone that Kariann had a brief but intense relationship with in the Spring of 2005.
"Matt" was the inspiration for what ultimately ended up becoming the "concept" album "it's what matters!!!"
Kariann met producer David Koval in fall of 2005 and they started collaborating on songs. Their styles meshed very well and both realized that they could bring out the best in each other with Kariann in the role of songwriter/vocalist and David bringing his multi-instrumentalist/production skills to the project. At David's suggestion Kariann hired engineer/producer Michael Simmons to engineer "it's what matters!!!". Tony Snow of Dramarama/Glimmer Stars was hired to play drums. Two more Kariann originals were quickly done ("What We Had" and "Doormatt") in Mike's Crab Apple West Studio.
Shortly thereafter it was decided that another engineer would need to be hired due to Mike's hectic and over-booked schedule. Walter Clevenger (Dairy Kings) was brought in to record and mix the rest of the album at his Brewery Records studio in Costa Mesa, CA.
After final mixing was complete in August of '06 the CD was finally ready to be mastered and pressed.
Kariann's debut release "it's what matters!!!" was released on Halloween 2006.
