About Me
I'm a lead guitarist/lead vocalist/sound engineer/technical director. I've played music professionally with bands and solo for some thirty-five years, mixed sound for twenty-two, worked in theater for twenty. I have been a concert promoter and producer, a sound designer for resident theater companies, and have installed or upgraded sound systems in clubs, churches and civic venues. I have been involved in music and performance art at some level for nearly all of my life, and hope to continue for the rest of it. I have been employed at what is now the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts for nearly fourteen years, first as House Sound Engineer and then as Production Supervisor, where I work closely with the North Carolina Symphony, among others. I have played guitar for nine years with Big Mama E and The Cool, a triangle-based original roots rock band with two recorded CDs and a third on the way. I also currently play guitar in The Shucks, a country/rockabilly band from the Raleigh area that does originals and covers (see myspace.com/dashucks) Among my different past projects, the best known and most successful was Mike Edwards and The Banned, a classic rock cover band that was known for covering work not ordinarily performed by other bands...The Banned toured for nine years in primarily a seven state region of the southeast.
