"Alt-country cowpokes meet the ex-punks in The Shucks, a rootsy Triangle quintet that features the male/female vocal swaps and sugared harmonies of Billie Karel and Travis Creed on twangy tunes that range from upbeat swings to lazy shuffles." —Spencer Griffith - The Independent
Looking for twang but finding more. The Shucks are in the unique position of loving the old stuff but still plowing ahead for something new. It all gets ground up and dropped on a stage to sizzle. When the crowd gets to cookin' and the boys are spinning the girls, it all kicks up a notch. The band has plenty of years under the belt, although in different variations. Mike Edwards, Al Felton and Kelly Biggers were the Dead Frogs From Hell. They were the scourge of Greenville NC in the 80's and have reunited again providing The Shucks with the necessary piss and vinegar. Billie Karel and Travis Creed are the former fronting duet from the Alt Country band Memphisto. Creed writes songs that keep the crowd moving and Karel's voice melts the hearts of the toughest cowboys at the bar. Dreaming of Gram and Emmy Lou, their duets speak of the thrill of new love as well as the pain of it's loss. The Shucks have an addiction to dancers and provide a much needed social service. Bring your dancin' shoes, grab your nearest partner, come on downtown, and clear a spot on the dance floor. The Shucks have got you covered!
