About Me

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewpro file&friendid=359145032Born a South Londoner to Guyanese parents, I was raised on a diet of Soul, Jazz, R & B and Gospel. I'm a professional singer, performer and vocal tutor whose ongoing career spans not only the music industry but also West End musical theatre. I attended the Harmony, Music and Dramatic Arts Academy and after studying various techniques, undertook the position of trainee tutor, studying under the wings of the founding members of the Academy Eugene Thompson and J.R. Skeete. I was then signed to EMI Records as lead vocalist with UK trio Tongue in Cheek who had 3 top 20 European hits with tracks "Encore", "Nobody" and "Tomorrow". As well as writing, arranging and producing my own material, I've also worked sessions with, amongst many, Bobby Womack (on the road), Shirley Jones (The Jones Girls), Siobhan Fahey / Shakespeare’s Sister and Dave Stewart (The Eurythmics). I've worked extensively, singing lead vocals for UK outfit, Soul II Soul both in the studio recording lead and backing vocals and live on the road work. I've also done countless backing vocal sessions for reggae artistes such as Beres Hammond and Freddie McGregor. A speech and vocal therapist, I've done extensive work with adults and children with special needs. I drew on my professional experiences as a singer to develop and deliver my own vocal tuition modules through my own company Mo’s Vox Workhouse in London, also taking my vocal tuition modules into schools across London and working with several London choirs. I'm currently working on new material; you’ll know when it hits …
