Avenged Sevenfold Bio written by Mikey:
Avenged Sevenfold is not your typical metal band. Formed in Huntington Beach, California in 1999 at the young age of 19; Avenged Sevenfold has come along way from playing barely filled bars, to being a co-headliner on Ozzfest, playing with their idols Metallica and Guns 'n' Roses. And a gold record recording artist.
Avenged Sevenfold climb to the top has steadily been growing for 8 years now. Their first CD release was on July 24th, 2001 when the band released Sounding the Seventh Trumpet on Good Life Recordings. Two weeks later the band released the Warmness on the Soul EP on Good Life Recordings. Things were looking up for the 20 year-olds.
The original Band line up consisted of M. Shadows (Matthew Sanders), Zacky Vengeance (Zachary Baker), Dameon Ash and The Rev (James Sullivan). Dameon Ash was with the band for two years until he quit the band. Fellow Pinkly Smooth member, Justin Sane, joined the band in late 2001 to help record Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and stayed with the band until the middle of 2002 when he was replaced by Johnny Christ (Jonathan Seward). Johnny was introduced to band through Zacky's little brother, and he stepped when the band needed a new bassist and finished the last two weeks of the 2002 Van's Warped Tour.
Also in 2002 they re-released Sounding the Seventh Trumpet on their new label, Hopeless Records, the re-issue also featured the bands new guitarist, Synyster Gates (Brian Haner, Jr.) and was also featured a new cover and a track from the Warmness on the Soul EP "To End the Rapture-- Heavy Metal Version". In 2003 the band began work on its 2nd full-length album, Waking the Fallen, the CD featured new Bassist Johnny Christ for the first time on a CD. The song "Chapter Four" was featured on 3 EA Sports games and the single "Unholy Confessions" had a music video that was played in rotation on MTV2 and was featured on Headbangers Ball Vol. 2.
The popularity of Waking the Fallen led the band to sign a record deal with a major label, Warner Bros.;Their first CD on the label was, City of Evil, it was Avenged Sevenfold's third full-length studio album, and it featured a new singing style by front man M. Shadows. It was rumored, at first, that the change was brought on by his throat surgery, he has denied this and has said "We left the metalcore scene because it was dying and we felt the band needed a new direction ." This caused a controversy between fans, some began to call them 'sell-outs'; while others embraced the change from metalcore.
City of Evil was Avenged Sevenfold's first gold album effort (certified January 13, 2006) and produced three singles for the band. "Beast and the Harlot" was featured on the EA Games title Burnout: Revenge and as a playable song on Guitar Hero II, it also received a #19 rank on the US Mainstream on Billboard and a #40 ranking on the Modern Rock list. "Bat Country" was featured on EA Sports games Madden 06, NHL 06 and the EA Games title SSX: On Tour. It also achieved these rankings on the Billboard charts: US Hot 100 (#60), US Mainstream Rock (#2), US Modern Rock (#6). "Seize the Day" was the band's third single from City of Evil, it wasn't featured on any media, but, it did receive a rankings on the Billboard US Mainstream Rock list at #17. Also "Burn it Down" was featured on Headbangers Ball:The Revenge, Best of Taste of Chaos and the Saw III soundtrack and "Blinded in Chains" was featured on Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Arena Football.
In 2006, the band also won an at the MTV Video Music Awards, Avenged Sevenfold received the award for best new artist. They took the award over several other artists--Angels and Airwaves, Panic! at the Disco, Chris Brown, Rihanna, and James Blunt. This is somewhat ironic, since they aren't "new artists", and have been performing for many years.
In late 2006 the band was finishing touring for 15 months straight, and they canceled some UK tour Dates and a US winter tour, to begin work on their 4th full-length studio album, Avenged Sevenfold (self- titled). It was released on October 30, 2007. The album was produced by the band themselves. The first Single was "Critical Acclaim" and was released on iTunes on August 27,2007. The second single from the album was "Almost Easy and spawned the first video from the album. It was officially released on September 18, 2007. It reached a peak ranking of #3 on the US Mainstream Rock; #7 on the US Modern Rock; #67 on the UK singles chart and #106 on the US Hot 100. The track was planned to be a song for the Transformer movie Soundtrack but was not completed in time but it was later featured on the game Need for Speed: Pro Street. The next release was "A Little Piece of Heaven". It is an unofficial single, in which an animated video was made. The newest single that will be released from the album is "Afterlife". The video was directed by Wayne Isham ("Seize the Day"). On January 18, 2008 the video was leaked onto the net but Warner Bros. was quick to remove it. Also on January 18th the band released their first ever B-Side to owners of the MVI and were in the fan club.
Also in 2007, the band released a DVD, called "All Excess" on July 17, 2007. It featured live footage from concerts, interviews with the band and their friends, showed the guys remembering old times in Huntington Beach and outtakes and extras.
So from a band of high school drop-outs to gold record recording artists, Avenged Sevenfold has just begun to leave their mark in the music industry.
"One thing I see on the internet and hear a lot about and I just wanna set the record straight. When I met the band after Sounding the Seventh Trumpet had come out and before Waking the Fallen, Matt handed me the cd and said to me 'This record is screaming, the record we wanna make (Waking the Fallen)is gonna be half singing/half screaming.' He also said 'I don't wanna scream anymore, but I'm gonna make a record thats half screaming/half singing and the record after that is gonna be all singing.' They already knew that they wanted to make a record that was all singing before City of Evil and that was 2 years before that record came out. And all this bullshit about him not being able to scream anymore, it's not true. It's what the band wanted to do as artists." --Mudrock, Avenged Sevenfold producer.
"I think you gotta have balls to be an Avenged fan sometimes. A lot of our fans get hated on just as much as us. To me Avenged fans aren't just fans of a band, they are fans of everything that surrounds it, like a lifestyle. We live it, you live it. You go to the shows and you can feel it. It's a great experience and people that aren't involved will never understand. So they can stand on the sidelines and talk, but we will just continue to do what makes us all happy." -M.Shadows
"We can't be the band to try and pussyfoot around what we're doing. Like let's do this for these kids and do this for these kids, fuck that. Let's do what we do. Here's a chance to watch and hate us, talk shit on us. You have every right to think that. But I promise you, someday, if you hate us for the success we have now; I promise someday you'll like us again."--Zacky Vengeance

Hey there, welcome to We Are The Strength Of The World! This site was created June 4th, 2006 to bring the world of Avenged Sevenfold to new and old fans alike. We decided to make this site so that more fans could meet each other and we all could spread the love we have for A7X to the rest of the world. We love A7X and we all know you do so we wanted to have a place for everyone to come to and learn new things about the band and speak to other fans who feel the same as you do towards them. We do our best to give you as much A7X as possible. Everything from myspace goodies to biographies, you name it, we’ll definitely have it at one point. Please note though that we are not Avenged Sevenfold and we don’t know them at all in person. We are all fans JUST like you are. Anyways, that’s about it for the site. If you have any questions, feel free to message us. We’re not assholes.
