About Me

A band that’s not just a band but a state of mind and a way of life, Avenged Sevenfold stared their music career while still in high school. At the tender age of 18 they recorded and released their first album Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. A hardcore screamo record, A7X came out with a fury and vengeance that showed they were not to be taken lightly. In 2003 the OC rockers shook things up with their next album Waking the Fallen. Not only did this new album have a half singing half screaming sound that would serve to foreshadow the direction they wanted to go in, it also featured a new lineup one that would become the Avenged Sevenfold we know today:
M.Shadows: Vocals,
Zacky Vengence: Guitar,
Synyster Gates: Lead Guitar,
Johnny Christ: Bass,
And The Reverend Tholemew Plague or The Rev: Drums.
In 2005 the boys released City of Evil, an album that really made the world take notice. Incorporating hardcore breakdowns, a punk sound, and even a flamenco style solo {courtesy of Brian Haner} this album skyrocketed the boys out of the underground, that same year they headlined Vans Warped Tour and that fall embarked on the successful Cities of Evil tour 2005, they were on a roll.
Always an interactive band A7X toured constantly and on 7/17/07 the boys released All Excess, a backstage pass into the lives of our favorite rockers. This DVD portrayed the boys in a new light, not just as the metal gods we all knew they were but as just a group of tight knit, talented friends just doing what they love to do. If that wasn’t enough they had another trick up their sleeves before the year was out, rumors had buzzed for months about another album in the works, something the rabid A7X fan base had been hoping and praying for, it was announced that there indeed was a new album in the oven and it was scheduled to be released that October. On 10/30/07 Avenged Sevenfold the album was set loose upon the public, it debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200, selling about 94,000 copies in its first week, to date the self produced album has sold over 359,487 copies.
