Est. & Reg. in 2004

About Me

We are Edison, a 4-piece rock band based in Derby. It began back in 2004 when singer Dave & bassist Al teamed up to work on some songs together. Guitarist Lee joined in 2005 and new, rockier material was written. The line-up wasn’t completed until early 2007 with the addition of drummer Joel.

And so the garage was emptied and the jammin’ commenced. More new songs were written, earlier material was re-arranged and preparations for the first gig were underway.

Since then Edison has performed with:…
The Displacements, The Nova Saints, Polite Notice, Hoofbite, Amifuba, Tom Bennett Projects, Mint Ive, The Maybeez, Dead In The Queue, Pistola Kicks, Mr. Derry, Citizen, Blythe Curse, The Hard Luck Saints, Dakota, Damn It Jack, Route 11, Dreadnought, Ascendant, Arkayon, Alaskan Skies, Catharsis and many more.

… And have performed at:
The Vic, The Bell, The Venue, Walkabout (Derby), Walkabout (Nottingham), Sawdlincote Ski Centre, The Robin, Vida Bar and The Wardwick.

Our plan for the future is to perform live as much as possible, to meet promoters, audiences and fellow musicians and to continue work on new material and recordings.

Influences: Most music really, from Miles Davis to Metallica, Radiohead to Rage Against The Machine, Sigur Ros to Sikth, Future Sound Of London to the Futureheads...and so on. It doesn't have to have guitars in it but it helps.
Sounds Like: BBC Radio Derby:
“This Alt.Rock Four-piece only started gigging in October (’07) but have already forged a tight sound and at least one timeless classic.”

Matchbox Recordings:
“Radio Nothing is a great track! The energy spills over the edges with the raw vocals soaring above the cross-rhythms of the ‘Biffy Clyro meet Jet’ instrumental parts underneath. This is a biting track that demands the full attention of the listener - great stuff."

Hank Lacertan:
“It's not just the well written tunes; or the lead singer's relentless energy; or the urgency of the songs juxtaposed with deliberate drops in pace; it's simply how well put together the whole set is. They appear to mix it up, even though generally the songs tend to be of a similar influence. An influence which dips very largely into the current American market - I hear the Foo Fighters while my mate hears Incubus - There's some home grown offerings too, like Lost Prophets, bit's of Muse and a Radiohead vibe. The lead singer comfortably sings, thumps his guitar and entertains whilst the rest of the band coolly get on with it.”

Some may say:

'Backline riffs, a big chorus and a guitar solo here and there, as you do'

'A British Foo Fighters'

'Not death metal, black metal, nu metal or indeed viking metal, but 'not metal'. Like an ore. Its rock with bits of metal in it'

'Muse with more ARGH! and less ooh'

'Great, catchy, powerful alt. pop songs elivated by sensational guitar work'

'Somewhere between Muse and Starsailor'

'Feeder...but with more bite'

'An absolutely fantastic and energetic band'
