Combine technically accomplished musicianship and exciting live performances with the determination to continually create something that is new and original, and you get Sable Dawn. Formed as a female-fronted four-piece in the summer of 2008, they’ve been constantly refining their sound and developing a unique and original style. Whilst generally speaking their style is rock/alternative, they strive to make each of their songs individual, and this has produced a repertoire spanning many genres, such as experimental, metal, slow rock, funk, latin and atmospheric.
They have however developed distinctive recurring trademarks, which include lofty, heart-rending vocals, expressive guitar work, and dynamic, well-oiled rhythms. This creates an infectious sound that is not easily forgotten once it is heard. The band took a few months off to write and record their debut album last year, but they’ve been hitting the pubs and venues again since late 2008. They’re now looking to make a bigger name for themselves in Derby and the Midlands too – will you lend us your ears?
We are playing gigs, and would like to play at yours =] but seriously if you would like to...

''Urgently atmospheric, emotionally charged Alternative Rock performed with confidence and passion by a tight and talented group. Helen’s got a great vocal, powerful yet deeply tender; it defines and drives their music forward across a range of interesting and well written songs. An impressive set all-round, the band set a high standard for the other acts to follow.''

06.05.09 Hey people! What's new? Well most recently we had a gig at Fat Cats in Hanley, Stoke-On-Trent on the 4th, which might just be the longest journey we've ever made to get to a gig... ok so it was only just over an hour but when you're boxed into the back of a Corsa with a metal keyboard stand digging into your thighs the time doesn't exactly fly by=S Though they are still the most entertaining drives ever...=)
Last weekend we played at the Rockhouse in Derby for the first time, with IME Music again for the first time in ages, and it was great. Thanks loads and loads to all you people who came along, you were brilliant! Latest photos from Seven (and soon from the Rockhouse and Fat Cats too) courtesy of Firm Chatikavanij - we owe you one!
Guttingly, we have to wait for exams to be over with before we gig again on the 19th of June, but hopefully we'll see some of you then...
