Elizabeth W Stone:1918-2008In September 2008 my mother: Elizabeth W. Stone pass away. I just wanted to tell people what a great woman she is and that she lived until she was 90.
She received her B.A. in English (Magna Cum Laude) M.A. in American Literature, from Howard University. She received her M.F.A in Drama from The Catholic University of America, and her Ed.D in Speech and Drama From Columbia University. She also studied, post-doctoral, at American Universty, Gallaudet College, the State Department's Foreign Service Insititute. My mother enjoyed a distinguished career in the Federal service as the Director of Training, the Social and Rehabilitation Service, United Startes Department of Health, Educational, and Welfare (HEW); Director, Standards for Educational Institutions,SRS/HEW; Director, Universities and Foundations, United States Commerce Department: Deputy Director, Inter-Agency Committee on Mexican Americans; and Special Assistant, White House Conference on Civil Rights. From 1977 until 1992, she was the Founding president and Executive Board member of the Black Women's Agenda.
