sugarbabe.org was born in 2001 with the efforts of performer/artist/designer
sugar babe in association with dj omnidrive .
the label has grown in a multiple artistic project. clothes, poetry, music, performances, photos and movies are the ingredients that match anytime there’s some new action.
in 2002
sugarbabe.org launches the first urban wear collection, named
proleter-k, thought as
working clothes for cultural proletariat: artists and technicians involved in cultural projects.
in
2004 comes the decision to open the first shop in bologna, where all influences and inspirations can show up in the right environment.
the launch of the shop starts a new season, and sugarbabe.org
meets other independent labels from around the world in a cozy and friendly space, where contemporary music, video projections, djs and vjs are an important part of sugar babe’s world.
the shop hits the town for its fresh atmosphere, a cosmopolitan vibe and the crossover of contemporary styles, having its roots in the ’50s and the eyes in the 2000s. public and media are attracted by the new space, seen as a contemporary art project, rather than just a shop
Sounds Like:
since its opening, the store in bologna has had more than 100 djs and producers playing in the booth raised on top of the shop’s windows.
every friday and saturday from 18 till 19,30 rotating guests djs come to play their sounds with different styles, varying from rock to electro, from funk to techno.
their music is available for listening in the music section of the website and djs for sale! page of myspace, aside to the international mix collective website blentwell.com .
