About Me

CHRIS SHIELDS BIOGRAPHYChris Shields is a singer/songwriter, acoustic guitarist and harmonica player from South London, England. He has recorded 3 albums of his own songs : 'Haunt Me' 1993, 'In A Melody' 1997 and 'Sky Turn Blue' 2001. His style is much in the same vein as James Taylor, Jim Croce and Stephen Bishop. He started his career in 1986 playing bass guitar around London's pub circuit with his Dad's country/rock'n'roll band and backing Elvis Presley impersonator Kim Bridges. He started writing his own songs in 1990 and achieved a rarity in the music business by having his 4 track home demo of 'Talking 'bout That Feeling' played on national radio (John Dunne Show, BBC Radio 2) the shows producers believing it to be a finished product. In 1993 Chris was interviewed by Gloria Hunniford on her BBC Radio 2 show, on the release of his first album, 'Haunt Me'. A song from that album, 'The Fool' was featured on Croydon's Beanos Record Store Christmas 12 inch, the track featuring Mark Feltham on harmonica. In 1994 he appeared on backing vocals for producer Paul Samwell Smith (Cat Stevens) for Irish folk singer Christie Hennessy's Warner Brothers album 'Lord Of Your Eyes' and toured extensively in Ireland playing support and guitar for Christie at venues such as The Point, Dublin & Opera House, Cork. In 1997 he appeared on his sister Sandra Shields' album 'In Solitary Splendour'. In 2000 he played acoustic guitar for Kezi Silverstone at The Borderline, London. He played 3 sell out shows at the Clocktower, Croydon and clocked up 21 appearances at The Original Songwriters at The Orange Club in London where he honed his live skills also playing the Mean Fiddler Acoustic Room, Kashmir Klub and Marquee Cafe. Since his last album in 2001, Chris took up playing the harmonica, performing with a full choir at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon. For his live shows and recording he has worked with harmonica players Brendan Power (Sting), Mark Feltham (9 Below Zero) and Alan Glen (Yardbirds). Chris appeared on the 2006 Kezi Silverstone album 'Whatever It Takes' (Clann Records) playing acoustic guitar and vocals. He also appeared on the 2007 'Christie Hennessy - The Platinum Collection' album, singing on the opening track 'Love's Great Pretender'. He is currently taking a break from the professional music scene.USE INDIESTORE PLAYER BELOW TO LISTEN TO 20 SONGS
