MoMo Tee/ MoMo DJ is the alter egos of Jason Reed US Hip Hop producer and ½ of the chart toping DJ/production duo Soul Providers (Ian 45 Carey / Jason Papillon)
Jason began his professional production career with fellow Élan Records co- founder and DJ/ production partner Ian “45†Carey in Baltimore, MD USA 1999. The 2 quickly climbed the underground latter finding their productions on the play list of every DJ world wide while. As the Soul Providers name grew so did their DJ schedule and popularity, giving them the opportunity to travel the world displaying their signature big room soulful sound.
As time went on during the peak of the Soul Providers reign Jason quickly became jaded of the same rigmarole and decided to move on. Although he is quick to tell anyone they never broke up, “As far as I’m concerned I will always be a Soul Provider and support Ian (Carey) to the fullest…being his friend and partner is one of the MOST important things to happen in my life… he’s a large part of why I am who I am now.â€
Jason moved to the NJ/NYC area and reacquainted himself with his 1st love, Hip Hop. As the “stupid years of rap†as he calls them became to come to an end (partially) he engulfed himself in to everything Hip Hop. He’s produced some of the best Hip Hop events from NY, Philly, DC, ATL and Miami. He’s also pushing out music for Ashanti, Method Man, Pall Wall, Ghost face and more.
Slowly his craving for house music crept back in. Playing a gig here and there with friend Todd Gardner, making a few beats for his own listening pleasure and hanging at NYC’s posh underground clubs began his interested in coming back to electronic dance. It’s was in NYC hanging out with Ian where it all reignited his love for the music. “I saw Ian spin and got that feeling for a brief moment, the next week I was with Todd G at his residency, Pacha and that did me in, I need to make a come back.†Secretly working on tracks in between his Hip Hop obligations he began to develop the MoMo DJ sound. To see if he still had what it takes to rock a big room crowd he arranged a night with set with Ian and their last gig together. Many in Washington DC are calling it the best club night of 2006
Although still on top of his Hip Hop game he’s learning to balance the 2 genres. Be on the look out for MoMoTee and MoMo DJ at a club near you soon. For any house music related questions, interviews or bookings please send an email to this myspace account or [email protected]
