Belly dance is known for its isolated but fluid and feminine movements. Doukissa enjoys dancing Egyptian style letting the music influence the movements. She enjoys using cane, candles, veils, and cape veil to lend an air of mystery to the performance.
Scott Helland's Gypsy Nomads
Scott Helland's Gypsy Nomads is New York's premier NeoMedieval Rock Duo. Blending Gypsy, Celtic, Medieval and Rock styles, this national touring duo features songwriter, artist and veteran of the punk scene Scott Helland on guitar, drums, programmed and live loops and French artist/dancer Samantha Stephenson on percussion, drums and vocals. The Gypsy Nomads' performance is a whirlwind of guitars, tambourines, toms and tape loops and ranges from dynamic guitar anthems, to pounding drum jams and original French ballads with a gypsy flair. They mix the modern and medieval, creating a visually evoking sonic landscape uniquely their own. They deliver their lively show with humor often playing in front of Scott's hand drawn backdrops reminiscent of Edward Gorey.
