About Me
Beyond power lines and busy lives is churning water that has consumed
the bodies and swallowed the lives of unsure saints in an infinite
baptism. Standing on the rocks at the edge of the sea, you see an
ancient cathedral where sky and water touch. Its stained glass windows
flicker through the mist. Under the moon, it transmits the sound of
one thousand lovers sighing; floating to you like a silk wall. The
tapestry of sound flattens the waves and approaches you, until it
wraps itself around you, kissing your skin. In the moonlight, you are
protected. You are a lover. It is the most beautiful moment ever
lived.Monolithic guitars swell to heavenly apogees then crash to the sands.
Undulating baselines move mountains, changing the landscape like
wounded heartbeats. The drums of ancient rituals pray for relief.
Cymbals twinkle as stars in a universe newly created. These are the visions and moments that define priva.priva was formed from the debris of the shoegazing four piece
Andalucia. David Jones, Jon McGloin, Damon Talbot, and Michael
Stevinson formed Andalucia in 1997, played a number of shows, and
released an ep in 2000. Damon Talbot left the band in 2000 and was
replaced by David Underwood. Shortly thereafter, David Jones and Jon
McGloin decided to pursue other interests. Andalucia was over.David Underwood and Michael Stevinson, decided to continue on, playing
with a varied group of talented musicians. Soon they met Will L and Jason M. Together, they became priva.priva has been writing and recording since early 2006. With a
heart-shattering ep under their belts, the legion of priva are now
seeking venues to unleash its tsunami of sound. Recalling glimpses of
Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Mogwai, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Sigur
Ros, and Explosions in the Sky, priva are poised to become music's
answer to lamentable ebullience, a cinematic backdrop to your visions
and moments.priva is Will L: bass, Jason M: drums, Michael Stevinson:
