Beyond the Valley of the Dolls

About Me

I am an ambitious slacker, pop culture freak, karaoke diva, saucy cowgirl and mistress of air guitar. By day I'm a graphic designer, but my real ambition is to be a Solid Gold Dancer. Currently I perform with a troupe of professional and amateur actors, the Dumpsta Players , in a drag/burlesque/satirical revue at Bob & Barbara’s. Sometimes I also DJ around town.

My Interests

pop culture, karaoke, roller skating, sex, thrifting, costumes, arts and crafts, trading mixes, cooking, drag queens, vintage loot, wigs, mp3s, film and music criticism, DJ'ing, kitsch, people, monkeys, dancing, monkeys dancing, photography, decorating my house, mid-century modern, cults, the tabloids, graphic design, Marimekko, mayhem, adventure, trying new things, surprises, late night aimless road trips, bubble tea, girly drinks, fake interpretive dance, board games, movie marathons in pajamas with takeout, riding my bike, making a day out of sneaking into movies, my friends, my cats, my husband

I'd like to meet:

I'm starting to think I only want to talk to people I know in real life on My Space, if I spend time on MySpace at all.

That said, I'm usually up for finding new partners in crime. Thrifting buddies. Trivia demons. Bad ass gal pals who can artfully misspell dirty words when we get the top score playing naughty Photo Hunt in old man bars. People who can teach me a thing or two. Folks that can talk about porn parodies of the Gong Show, Lancelot Link and the good block/bad block syndrome in Philly in one conversation. Badasses who wear eye patches. Good cooks. Exercise partners. Photo explorers. World travelers.

Music:

I am the queen of cheese. Also an avid fan of new wave/postpunk/classic punk, old school hip hop, disco/funk/soul, exotica/60s lounge, French pop, weird covers, one hit wonders, AM Gold, stuff you can sing along with on road trips, ladies with an attitude//fellas that are in the mood, hot nerds in rock, anything using moogs/cowbells/vocoders/theremins, mashups, cock rock (Led Zep down to crap hairbands), classic Power 99 stylings, Soul Jazz comps, The Stones (pre-1982), Prince, Al Green, Can, Love, Ike and Tina Turner, ELO, Van Halen, Beck, Cocteau Twins, Jackson 5, Goldfrapp, Burt Bacharach, ESG, Talking Heads, Bowie, Joan Jett, Iggy, T-Rex, Stevie Wonder, Siouxsie, The Pixies, early Madonna, Blondie, too much more to list.
