.... ..DJ Tecumseh has followed a path towards Hip Hop and Turntablism, since his
young days growing up in Skyway (South Seattle). Pursuing the path of
turntable skills, he escaped the traps and pitfalls of city life that
burdened so many of his friends. After more than ten years of paying dues,
he has emerged as one of the strongest full package deejays in the
Northwest. Tecumseh will scratch 24/7, make beats, shake down house parties,
rock a break battle, and make your mama do the hustle at your cousin's
wedding.As far as Turntable skills are concerned, everyone knows Tecumseh has the
itch. Well known for his intensely melodic scratch style and soulful
selections, Tecumseh's style evokes emotion and truthful expression. His
respect for Hip Hop's origins enables him to bring rawness to every musical
setting he creates. Mixing his love of cutting with his passion for digging,
Tecumseh pleasantly surprises his audience by giving them the unexpected -
the known with the unknown - the newest cuts with the rarest gems.
If you ask Tecumseh which crowd shows him the unexpected, he'll tell you
straight up the b-boy/b-girl dancers. He loves the energy and attitude
they bring to a party, not to mention the style and moves they perfect. With
that said, Tecumseh's favorite events to deejay are break battles and live
parties. At the Seattle Chapter Zulu Nation Break Battle, during the heat of
the final round, Tecumseh played only three songs but had the dancers in a
complete frenzy. The event was hosted by DJ Yoda of the Legendary Crash Crew
who personally let Tecumseh know that he "set it off big time".Often asked about the meaning of his deejay moniker, Tecumseh proudly states
that the name takes after a historic Native American leader. The historic
Tecumseh, whose name means Panther Springing Across The Sky, was a Shawnee
war chief and pan-tribal political leader that helped unite different tribes
against the westward invasion. DJ Tecumseh takes on this name in honor of
his own roots as a member of the Wintu tribe from Northern California. With
this name, Tecumseh unites audiences with his music and upholds his duty to
serve one nation under the groove.And speaking of grooves, Tecumseh's got "fresh grooves for any mood." At
least that's what his wife, Jojo will tell you. Having known each other for
years in the Seattle Hip Hop scene, the two reunited when Tecumseh was
competing at the 2002 DMC battle and Jojo was promoting a deejay inspired
fashion show. After the two met up again they hit it off and were married
the next summer. While planning their wedding they realized how hard it was
to find a DJ that was down with the program.So, a couple of years later they started a Mobile DJ service and production
company called Bamboo Beats Entertainment. With this venture Tecumseh unites
all of his love interests from scratching, digging, making beats, to rocking
parties. He looks forward to his future as a cutting edge deejay and will
