Black Lab Productions

About Me

Black Lab Productions has been a long time in the making. In the begining it was me and some of my friends wanting to make Hip-Hop. It took over a decade of freestyles, writing and listening to other people's music. It took seven long hard years of trying to create our own beats, plus going to shows to suport various artists and the purchasing of these artist's albums. It took alot of hard work, dedication and will to learn everything we could about the equipment and recording. But, the most important things it took to make it happen, was love and faith in ourselves. Over the years The Black Lab was nameless and had no form. but throughout the years there had always been influences to help shape and mold the idea. Over time some of these influences stuck and made a profound impact on the vision as a whole; while some were compleatly outgrown all togeather. The Black Lab was never a studio or a lable at first, it was a crew. The crew consisted of various people over the years (Momentum, Bodhi Darma, DJ Sabbatic, Rev. 1:19, Jacob, T.A.N.I.S, Alonzo, ect.) and had many differant names for it's self, (P.L.A.T.O.O.N, Common Denominater, Ancient of Days and Movement Exodus.) but nothing ever seemed to work out as planned. Movement exodus was a four year long endevour (2000-2004) of trying to make it work, but in the end that idea fell short of our goals too. With some of us destracted by jobs, girls, kids, school, drugs, drama and our own mental health; it made it hard to focus on our dreams and what was most important to us when we were kids. (our music) In the end we all went our seperate ways and started to do our own thing. Although some of us are in contact, we still have yet to release any valid material. So, in a sense Black Lab Productions is an atempt to manafest the ideas that never took thier place in the Hip-Hop comnmunity. The Black Lab is a final tribute to the cause in which we all believed and is my last chance at reviving something that never realy was. I can only hope that Iv'e captured the vision and recreated the very thing that had always been descussed by everyone who was involved. (Jewels Hunter Tuesday, September 26, 2006)
