Striking a pivotal balance between raw skill, stylistic diversity, and a keen sense of purpose, ASUN, also known as Suntonio Bandanaz, is taking underground Hip Hop to the next level. With his spitfire delivery, that uniquely laces hypnotic syncopation to hard-hitting rhythmic cadences, complimented by his magnetic, melodious hooks that punctuate critically conscious, direct, and provocative lyrical content, BANDANAZ is changing the game.
Asun, aka “Suntonio Bandanaz†is the core emcee and spearhead of the pioneering Seattle collective of deejays, b-boys, and other artist- visionaries, Alpha P. Asun has endured much adversity and struggle in his own coming-of-age, and this veteran emcee envisions music as a platform to not only entertain, but also to uplift, unify, and empower by generating knowledge of self, cultural relevance, and artistic expression.
Since the mid 90s, Asun has created a massive catalogue of independent material and releases on CD, tape, vinyl and video. Through the years, Asun and Alpha-P has created professional partnerships with many community-based organizations and crews such as- Project Mayhem, MAD Krew, Universal Zulu Nation, Project Blowed, Silent Lambs Project, Black Anger, Tribal, 206-Hop, Sea-Sick, War Party Thugs, Masters of the Universe, Abyssinian Creole, Mind Movers, Battle Axe, Black Swan Foundation, Hip Hop Congress, and 206 Zulu.
Most recently, Asun has joined forces with Seattle-based multimedia and record company MADK Productions to produce what is widely considered the best solo album from Alpha-P recorded to date, “Suntonion Bandanaz.†Synonymous with an ambient, hardcore, b-boy, and revolutionary element, the record is one of the most anticipated, groundbreaking records of the year from the Northwest. With vibrant charisma, moving stage presence, years of experience, and breadth of style, Asun is emerging from the fertile belly of Seattle’s underground with a ferocity that is sure to keep your eyes glued.
