About Me

Hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, Broken Crown (formerly known as Bleed the Freak and Ridgway) is the brainchild of high school friends Nick Aldieri (guitar) and Jeff Dennis (bass). After deciding to start a band in the summer of 2004, the two wrote scores of songs together, Jeff writing most of the lyrics and Nick most of the music. They kept the lyrics in a special black box and recorded the music on Nick's PC using the cheapest version of Cakewalk. To date, Broken Crown has written 93 original songs. While writing, the two shuffled through many band members before finding drummer Ryan Matcha (also a high school alum).
The band performed three shows with vocalist Joel Kois before parting ways, and Broken Crown now features vocalist Nathan Foutch. Noting that their evolving songwriting style now necessitated a second guitarist, the band added Noah Davis on rhythm guitar. Eventually, Broken Crown hopes to record a 16-song album.
Broken Crown's ouvre includes heavy, lumbering metal pieces a la Black Sabbath, the powerful grunge metal of acts like Alice in Chains, and anthemic arena-bound cuts that resemble Led Zeppelin or Pearl Jam. Jeff cites his main influences as Tim Commerford of Rage Against the Machine, Mike Inez of Alice in Chains, and Fieldy of Korn. Nick's main influences include Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. Ryan is influenced by Neil Peart of Rush and John Bonham of Led Zeppelin. Noah looks to Jimi Hendrix and Mike McCready as influences. Nate is fond of Brandon Boyd of Incubus, Zack De La Rocha of RATM, Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. Noah is on myspace. Jeff, Ryan, Nate, and Nick have come to hate myspace.
