Rik Barba was born in 1977 in Guadalajara, Mexico. At the early age of seven, he started playing and studying classical piano until the age of fifteen when he discovered and switched to the electric bass guitar. Since then he has been part of many bands and projects as a songwriter/arranger or just backing people up but most importantly never limiting himself to one style of music or technique.
In early 2000 he moved to Los Angeles to study bass and music theory in general but also to pursue a formal career in music. That gave him the opportunity to share the stage with many local talents and opened the door to the American music scene.
He’s been playing the lowend for over fifteen years, touring and recording with national and international artists.
As a solo artist Rik has also released two independent albums showcasing the bass guitar as a lead instrument. His solo bass stuff can be heard on some internet radio stations like "Bass World Radio". In addition, Rik also records instructional videos for gear promotional purposes.
