YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!!!

About Me

Hi, I’m Mira from Holland. I’m one of those energetic people who want to do everything, go everywhere and generally feel very happy. Some call me “exhausting” but I’ve also heard “inspiring”, (up to you…)
I photograph for Metalshots, a site that reports festivals and concerts all over Europe. Besides that I shoot freelance for some metal magazines: Terrorizer (UK), Zero Tolerance Mag (UK-USA-Australia), Helvete Magazine (Norway-Spain-Latin America), Fury! Magazine (Holland). I love going to festivals so that’s where you’ll find me every weekend: On a plane/on a train/in front of a stage;)
I organize small non commercial Metal festivals in Holland 4 or 5 times a year called “Night Of The Sick” They take place in a former Roman Catholic Hospital. (Hence the name;) Usually I book 4 bands and have a max. audience of about 200. Non commercial means: entrance fee 5 Euros max, Bottle of beer 1 Euro. I have principles to stick to, and Night Of The Sick is for everyone. If you want to play, see my BLOG for more info! I live in that building since 1988 and have a beautiful large appartment, formerly the X-Ray department!
Besides all that I work fulltime in the IT-department of the University of Groningen as an MCSA & Novell Administrator. I’m currently on a project that melts together the Faculty of Medical Sciences with the University Medical Centre. Are you still awake…?
I have some hobbies but not enough time to live them out fully. If only a person wouldn’t need sleep… I love flying and used to take flying lessons. Ultralight in 2005, Cessna in 2006. This year I haven’t had time yet. Travelling is one of my inspirations and I’ve been to all continents several times. Name a country…I’ll say “ Tick”... I love diving and have an Advanced Open Water Licence. I plan to train as a rescue diver in februari 2008, ticket to Asia is booked! I love seafishing, especially in Canada and Australia. I even take my rod to Black Metal Norway and in the mornings, before the festivals start you’ll find me in a fjord… If I see a mountain I want to climb it. If I see a wave I want to surf it.
I’m from 1971 but I don’t care how old I am to be honest, I feel good and I’m quite content with how I look. I don’t want children and I don’t intend to change my lifestyle for a long time to come.
I don't believe in any gods, reincarnation or life after death. I'm against religion as it is today. People supress, kill and hate in the name of their god, driven to intolerance of other beliefs by their discriminating religious books and organisations. Christianity is responsible for driving out Heathen/Pagan cultures in Europe. Some of the biggest wars on this planet are driven by religious extremism. I'd rather be with 'Satan' than in one of those fucking monotheist heavens. I assume that I only live once. So I want to live every day like it could be my last. I hope to grow old but who knows what might happen? At least I never want to look back and regret things that I didn't do or try. I want to treat people good and respectful, in the way that I hope to be treated myself. I do have a sick sense of humour though and I am very direct so I might be taken the wrong way sometimes.
My soulmate & true love is Levithmong. He's a winemaker and drummer/singer in Black Metal band 'Cirith Gorgor'. He's the best thing that ever happened to me. I'm looking forward to the future even more than I already did. Well, I have to run now. Off to a concert or something.

My Interests

Photographing, Organizing metal festivals, Travelling to concerts and festivals, Listening to Metal, Flying, Diving (Deep, wreck, night, underwater photography), Travelling all over the place, from dark Africa to freezing Siberia (you only live once...) Camping, fishing, skating, running, messing around with computers.

I'd like to meet:

Evil Satanic Black Metal hearts, wuaaahaha! Friends to meet at festivals & concerts, People to share mutual interests & music with, good bands to book for the Night Of The Sick Festivals, groovy posing metalheads to photograph!

Music:

Metal (Black, Black, Black, Death, Viking, Oldschool & much more) Will make a nice list here when I find the time...

Movies:

I have a sick sense of humour! Shock me!! Let it be arseripping funny! Politically incorrect, discriminating and insulting humour is fine too! Nothing human is odd to me, sex, puke, blood and shit!

Television:

Hardly any... 10 pm news?? Haven't got the time or patience to watch anything. When I'm old and can't move anymore I'm gonna catch up and watch ALL those great movies and funny series!!

Books:

Gabriel Garcia Marquez I love. When I read his books I forget where I am and think that I'm back in South America. Books about travelling, books with a sick sense of humour and books with interesting cultural of scientific stories interest me, as long as they're not boring dry!! How about 'A small history of nearly everything'?

Heroes:

Levithmong. My parents for raising me with a free spirit, without a god, and giving me the right baggage. All other people I care for and look up to. The friends who love me despite my shortcomings. They put up with my never having time, my impatience to stay in one place for a long time, my inability to talk for ages, my hyperenergetic behaviour, my always eating everyones food... The friends who don't fashionably diagnose me with ADHD and simply advise I should be on medication... Cuddles, hugs and kisses to all of ya who take me for who I am!! You know who you are...
