The Pregnancy

Neither trying nor failing since 2000.

About Me

The Pregnancy was conceived by Lloyd Capo and James Ryskalchick in the summer of 2000. James and Lloyd actually met each other under the sea through their mutual dolphin friend, Zizibar. Without a human drummer they recorded their first demo, Contractions Vol. 1, on James' computer. Their drum-machine once composed a whole symphony in five minutes but James eventually murdered the thing with his bare hands because the drum-machine was always bitching and was very high-maintenance. In February of 2002 Ross Lipton joined as a drummer and they recorded Contractions Vol. 2. They accompanied Ross' entry into the band with a series of basement shows throughout the spring and summer of that year. Ross' desire to play other instruments and continue to use angel dust resulted in his departure in early 2003 which led for Benjamin Schurr (formerly of Kosminaut Republica, F!, CAW!, Punch-out Charlie, Hybrid Flow, and currently in Br'rer, Krystal Nacht, Wolfenschnitzteltron, A Three Ring Circus, Captain Werewolf, and The Daffy Effect) to play drums for a brief time. They then created their third EP, Contractions Vol. 3, which featured their usual set-openers, "Median" and "Locusts & Butterflies." A new lineup of James Ryskalchick, Sean Finan (formerly of Stuttering Danley and the Vaginal Secretions and CAW!), Dan Angel (also formerly of Stuttering Danly and the Vaginal Secretions and CAW!), Ben Schurr, and Lloyd Capo came into action in the summer of 2004. This particular lineup was raped and mugged several times by a pack of wolves. Like Ross, James and Ben eventually left the band to pursue other musical interests (and to continue using angel dust). Throughout 2005, their fourth EP, "Mortimer", was finally completed. Their refreshingly new musical direction was now much more versatile and experimental. They then played several scattered shows throughout late 2005 and early 2006 for the first time in almost two years. Their live lineup never stayed the same throughout this period, with the exceptions of Lloyd and Dan. Ex-members James and Ben occasionally filled in for Brandon and/or Sean. Throughout the summer of 2006, Lloyd relocated to Bumblefuck, PA in order to complete a new full-length demo album. His original intention was to record a demo version of the new album for the rest of the band to grasp the basic concept of what the album was to be. However, Lloyd saw enough potential in the recordings to actually make the album listenable. And he did just that. Over 1000 tracks were recorded for the album, which spanned a time frame of sixty-six minutes. Over 500 of those tracks were deleted, and rightfully so. On December 31, 2006, "South of the Cheddarhole," was released.
