Get Your Cyborg Name
...in a dark alley, or?...I'd have liked for the Bride of Frankenstein to have mated with the Monster...would their kids have had stitches???Actually, I'd LOVE to meet a Time Lord with a TARDIS.That way, I could have been the filling in a 1977 sandwich with Debbie Harry and Benjamin Orr as the bread.Or maybe a Chrissie Hynde and Pete Farndon sandwich.
Yum.
there’s at least one thing to like about every genre of music. Some of my favorites are: '50s rock 'n' roll, '50s country, '60s pop, rock, and garage, '70s everything except that sort of folky stuff, and even that is ok sometimes, '80s hardcore, some of the metal, new wave, glam glam glam, Ramones, Blondie, Elvis Costello, Buddy Holly, Randy Newman, David Bowie, Hanoi Rocks, Sex Pistols, Concrete Blonde, Nina Hagen, Phantom of the Paradise Soundtrack (Paul Williams woohoo!), HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH!!, Beatles, Johnny Horton (been listening to rockabilly since BIRTH thanks to my dad), Hank Williams Sr., Cramps, Guns ’n’ Roses, Ella Fitzgerald, any and all Sinatras, Johnny Cash, Flogging Molly, Velvet Underground, Suede, Bambi Slam, Gene Loves Jezebel, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Edith Piaf, Misfits, The Cramps, Motorhead, Plasmatics, did I mention Buddy Holly? and so on and so on and so on… I can't list it all. Fuck it.
I studied every aspect of art at COLLEGE. At least I've never made a film that people wished they were BLIND rather than have SEEN. I'm an IMDB.com geek. I love movies--some old and new movies I could watch a million times: I like comedies, horror, sci-fi, exploitation. All About Eve; The Quiet Man; Groundhog Day, Young Frankenstein; Blazing Saddles; Stripes, Caddyshack, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls; Beat Girl; Hard Day's Night; Quiet Man; Straw Dogs; Fuego; Female Don Juan (I want my own submarine, dammit!); Zorro the Gay; Blade Runner, Monty Python and the Holy Grail ("Look, let me go back in there and face the peril."), The Seven Year Itch, The Jerk, The Shawshank Redemption, Almost Famous, The Green Mile, Stand by Me, Clockwork Orange, Blow Up, Kill Bill (both, but I've seen the second one a billion times), Arthur, Bond movies (stop getting Bond wrong!), Logan's Run, both Flash AND Flesh Gordon, Fahrenheit 451 --we only have so much space here. I love some (not all) John Waters, ALL Brian DePalma, most Woody Allen, all Tim Burton, some John Carpenter; I seem to like most Cameron Crowe movies, which is sort of weird. My new favorite movie is SHAUN OF THE DEAD. I could watch Shaun over and over again. That movie has it ALL.
On DVD, I like Alan Partridge, The Office (UK version), Doctor Who, Fawlty Towers (yes, I spell it correctly), Little Britain, Doctor Terrible's House of Horrible, DIY types of shows since I'm a DIY kinda person, Rome, Carnivale, science and history shows--I like to laugh and I like to learn. I like '60s sitcoms like I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Green Acres... Sid and Marty Croft '70s stuff, Adult Swim. Reno 911 (my car is a Buick, cop-car looking thing and I named it Clementine, after Clementine on that show). I'm a sucker for documentaries...I love the History Channel and all its WWII and ancient civilizations stuff. (I DID want to be an archaeologist when I was a kid.)
I like books on evolution, history, science, biographies, footbinding, corsetry, human oddity, sword swallowing, deviance, archaeology, astronomy, photography, I have lots of books about faces and beauty from a evolutionary and biological standpoint. Faces fascinate me, which is why I often do portraits in my own artwork and it fascinates me that beauty is a product of evolution and that it all has to do with reproduction. Favorite books are: The Mezzanine, by Nicholson Baker, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, anything by Richard Dawkins, anything by Jared Diamond. I admit that I do like Anne Rice's books--my favorite by her is Belinda, which isn't as popular as lots of her others, but I think it's very good. I have lots of books by Joel-Peter Witkin, Kevyn Aucoin, I love my book about the Chauvet Caves... I just like books and I have way too many of them--just ask anyone who's ever helped me move!
My sister. She and I have been through things no one else could ever imagine and she came out much stronger than I. I have all kinds of heroes, but I guess I admire anyone who lives a creative, intelligent life and remains kind, humorous, vulnerable, and down-to-earth in the process. I hate LIARS, mean people, LIARS, mean people, LIARS, and thieves. My heroes since I was a kid are Debbie Harry, Marilyn Monroe, The Beatles, Buddy Holly, Cleopatra, Mr. Spock, and Steve Martin.I do love Steve Coogan, Simon Pegg, Ricky Gervais, Kathy Griffin, Weird Al, George Carlin, Christopher Walken...oOooo and Adrian from Blue Period. Yum! I love creative people. I love funny people. Funny people are usually the smartest, most courageous people on Earth. Funny means a lot.I feel weird naming people I actually know as heroes, even though a lot of my friends and relatives are heroes to me...so, I won't. They know who they are.
