About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

I'm an ex secretary/data analyst/barmaid/prison teacher/Ann Summers Manager/gig booker currently working as an EFL teacher and a sales agent for Hatti Trading, who sell Fair Trade handbags. Fair Trade is the way to go people!! They work closely with organisations such as The Esther Benjamins Trust, Maiti Nepal (who both work with survivors of trafficking and abuse in Nepal) and Stop the Traffik. If anyone wants to have a handbag party and help these organisations (and get a free handbag!), let me know - happy to travel!!

A little video from The Reign Parade....

Can you spot me in this clip of The Passion Puppets on Rock on the Dock around 1984? Seems like yesterday.....

I know holiday snaps can be boring but here's my slideshow!

I like going to gigs and this was one of my most recent, the 25th anniversary reunion gig by One the Juggler. I wish more of the bands I used to like would do reunion gigs.....!!!

I'd like to meet:

Without meeting people, life is pretty meaningless really, so the more the merrier. People with something to say, who will touch my life in one way or another, or whose lives I can touch in some way. People with good and varied musical tastes (music is very important to me). Oh yeah, and Johnny Depp and John Taylor LOL

I have met some great people on here, and hope I will continue to do so.

What Your Soul Really Looks Like
You are a warm hearted and open minded person. It's easy for you to forgive and forget.

You are a very grounded, responsible, and realistic person. People may not want to hear the truth from you, but they're going to get it.

You believe that people see you for how you are, not how you look. But deep down, you know that's not exactly true.

Your near future is in a very different place (both physically and mentally) from where you are right now.

For you, love is all about caring and comfort. You couldn't fall in love with someone you didn't trust. Inside the Room of Your Soul

I'm 90% vegetarian and tried be totally vegan but couldn't do it! I like the ideals of veganism though and I haven't given up completely.

Anything - almost! No way I can list everything. My iPod has everything from Gregorian Chants to Stiff Little Fingers, from Matis Yahu (sp?) to Howard Jones, from Gogol Bordello to Dean Martin (and most stuff in between!)Still love Duran Duran and currently rediscovering some of my old favourites which is bringing back some good memories!! I've just ordered a USB turntable so have a project ahead of transferring all my vinyl to my PC -think I'll need a new hard drive LOL

My favourite track from the first album I ever bought - Duran Duran, Lonely in Your Nightmare.

One of the most unusual gigs I've been to was a Bolivian group called Savia Andina in La Paz - fantastic musicianship, especially the charrango player (it's like a small guitar). It was a fantastic night, see them on this video:

Paul Young on The Tube - amazing to think this show was so innovative back then....

This is Drum Theatre, one of the best lost bands of the 80s (along with The Bloomsbury Set, The Passion Puppets, Silent Running, and many more who should have been more successful than they were). If anyone knows what happened to Drum Theatre or Silent Running, please let me know!

Yet another band who should have been more successful, Love and Money with Wanderlust.

Another Bloomsbury Set one....

Movies:

Depends on my mood - something to make me laugh, cry or think. Recently(ish) I've loved Motorcycle Diaries, Everything is Illuminated, and Little Miss Sunshine which is probably one of the best films I've ever seen. Also this one:

Television:

Don't watch much really. I do admit to being a Dr Who fan and I love anything to do with Time Travel. Life on Mars was fantastic but I wasn't sure about the ending.

Books:

The last book I read was Tuesdays with Morrie - inspiring.

Heroes:

Too many to mention. Lots of people have inspired in many different ways.

You Are From Mercury
You are talkative, clever, and knowledgeable - and it shows.
You probably never leave home without your cell phone!
You're witty, expressive, and aware of everything going on around you.
You love learning, playing, and taking in all of what life has to offer.
Be careful not to talk your friends' ears off, and temper your need to know everything. What Planet Are You From?
