In the summer of 1982 record companies were tripping over themselves trying to sign hot new band One the Juggler after hearing their stunning demos. The band, Rokko (AKA Sham Morris), Lushi, Lin Minchin, Steve Nicol and unofficial member Ian Trimmer, had really started a stir in the music business with their own brand of melodic guitar tinged rock 'n' roll music and their gypsy guise. As well as supporting the likes of Elvis Costello, the Eurythmics, Marc Almond, Little Stephen & His Disciples of Soul and Big Country, they were gathering a loyal following and regularly playing to full houses at the Marquee Club in London's Wardour Street and similar venues all over the country. They were voted best new band at the Reading Festival in August 1983.They released their first album in 1984 Nearly A Sin, which received rave reviews, and then their second and final album in 1985 Some Strange Fashion, produced by the late Mick Ronson. There were several band line-ups, with the inclusion of Billy Jenkins, Travis, Mick Ronson, Bob Nanook, Momo Sex, Charlie Mead, Steve Bray and Mick Rossi.Despite a relatively short lived career, they made an incredible impact with their exciting live performances, and have influenced many other musicians. After more than 22 long years, they have released a new demos cd, DESTINATION PLANET BLUE.
