The Sonics

WILD 60s garage-punk genius.

About Me

"REAL BOSS! Dear Editor: I would luv to show my appreciation for the Sonics. I think they are the greatest band around! There must be many more teens who feel the same way I do. All of their songs are real boss. Especially their new one 'Dont Be Afraid...' I went crazy over 'Psycho'. And 'The Witch' was really wild. Every song they make is always better than the last one. Sonics, never break up please! I luv ya - so do many, many more teens! Thanks. If you do break up I'll never forget your wonderful group!" -Debbie Smith 10645 34th Ave. SW

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Gerry Roslie (lead singer and piano/organ), Andy Parypa (bass), Larry Parypa (guitar), Bob Bennett (drums), and Rob Lind (saxophone) & others.
Influences: Little Richard, The Kinks, Chuck Berry, The Kingsmen, The Wailers
Sounds Like: The Sonics combined the classic Northwest-area teen-band raunch with early English band grit relentless rhythmic drive, and unabashed '50s-style blues shouting for a combination that still makes their brand of rock and roll some of the raunchiest ever captured on wax. Lead singer Gerry Roslie was no less than a white Little Richard, whose harrowing soul-screams were startling even to the Northwest teen audience, who liked their music powerful and driving with little regard to commercial subtleties.
Record Label: Jerden, Etiquette, Norton
Type of Label: Indie
